Stumbled onto this gem on YouTube of a David Gilmour concert with David Crosby, Graham Nash and David Bowie as guest artists. It is a compilation of some PInk Floyd tunes and a number of David's original, more recent songs.

Besides being one of my favorite musicians, as a lighting designer/programmer/board operator (one of my many hobbies), this is little slice of heaven watching Marc Brickman's work...

So sit back with a cold beverage or two and enjoy this 2.5 hour HD concert...

I'm rock all the way. Whether it's AC/DC or Skynyrd. Mostly 80's. Billy Squier, Scorpions, Pink Floyd, Judas Priest. For newer stuff Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver, and Buckcherry but mainly cause my high school buddy was co-founder and lead guitarist...lol.

Grew up with the Beach Boys, Beatles, Four Seasons and all from the 60's. Stayed rock & roll until 80's? Went through a time liking Depeche Mode, Yellow, Seal and those types. Since the 90's it's been Country with Rippingtons and Kaskade type songs for a change up.
We would occasionally see Brian Johnson (AC/DC) walking around St. Armands Circle in Sarasota. Not a huge fan but Thunderstruck is probably my favorite song they play.

Man I could talk about music for an eternity. It is what gets me through really bad days and what makes good times even better. I was in a band just out of high school and knew I was going to be the next Jimmy Page or Eddie Van Halen. I knew reaching for David Gilmour's level of creativity was out of my reach. But I love all music except the old country. Goto's these days are Chevelle/Foo Fighters or Jimmy Buffet and the like.

Tom Petty. I was winterizing my boat on a beautiful day when a good friend called and told me the sad news of his passing.

Loved Pink Floyd. Saw them twice.

We went to an outdoor Roger Water’s concert. Before the show and during he was showing political crap and talking political crap. Never again.

Saw Crosby stills, Nash and Young. Don’t know why but I did like Neil Young. I will repeat, did! Went to another outdoor concert to see Neil Young. He started in on politics and that was it for me.

First concert was Deep Purple with Electric Light Orchestra as one of the back up bands. Great show.

I got to see Led Zeppelin twice in the 70s. A year before one of the concerts the psychic Jeanne Dixen predicted Market Square Arena(Indianapolis) was going to collapse. We were there.

Another great concert was Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

It’s funny that people reject artists because they have political views. Music has always been about political views. The entire 60s generation music was about politics and pushing back against the system, war, racism, etc. The old stodgy farts in those days also rejected that generation of music too. I refuse to be this generation’s old stodgy fart.

I hate gangster rap though.

I've seen some version of David Gilmour, Pink Floyd and Roger Waters over 35x so that probably gives you a pretty good clue as to my favorite music/musicians.
You have me beat... but back in 2016 I got tickets for Gilmour's tour. The only available tix were in the upper balcony. A few days before the show, on a whim I Googled Marc Brickman, the Lighting Designer (LD) and a website popped up. It was a pretty simple site with an email icon. SO I sent him an email telling him that I was an LD for a very large church with many moving lights and used the same lighting console they used.
To my surprise I received a response that said "Stop by the 'front of house' before the show". I responded, that I had upper balcony seats and couldn't get down there. So he comped me 9th row center tix, I got to spend about 30 minutes before the show speaking with him about lighting, his attitude in design, and creativity. Also got a tour of the booth and the gear. It was very cool!
The seats were great! Smoky though... didn't need to light, just inhale... LOL!

I think the difference is the political point of view was creatively presented in the music, not in a lecture of direct speech before or during the concert. I go to a concert to be entertained, not listen to political speech...

Exactly. You can respect a guy who does it in his music. Songs like Ohio and For what it’s worth. But standing on stage or Tv telling me is over the top.

I grew up way before most of you so my music tastes might be different. Remember the Smothers Brothers? Gotcha.

Most of my favorite artists were from the 60's, same as Jus Cruising! Music to me was more of a background sound rather than me liking a particular group, so I never really got into knowing who played which songs or who was in which group.

My wife is exactly the opposite. She can play name it and claim it all day.

Steve, thanks for loading that video. I just got home yesterday from the hospital with covid so that's going to keep me occupied for awhile!

Before the show Roger Waters and Neil Young showed political crap on the screens. While on stage they TALKED political crap!

I understand their songs may be political. I did not pay to be lectured to.

Went to see Candlebox back in 2016 / 17 can't remember exactly. He was whining about Trump on stage. He was booed and shut up.

You all are funny. You whine and complain about how you just want your entertainers to “shut up and entertain” and not spew political crap. Then you take over a perfectly innocent thread and smear it all over with political crap. I want posters here just to “shut up and talk about boats”, but I don’t see that ever happening.

I think Rock and Roll reached end of life at its 50 year mark several years ago. I feel fortunate to have been alive for most all of those 50 years. If I had to pick one band it’s The Who. But I really like the 80s and 90s bands like INXS, Tears for Fears, REM, U2, etc.
