It looks like two boathouses have burned at the Port of Kennewick, that's next to the Clover Island Yacht Club.
There's not much info yet but they said noone is hurt.

We are members of the yacht club and have been receiving text msgs from the club since early a.m. Two boat houses and their boats are totaled and there likely is huge smoke and water damage to a couple more.

Having gone through this at my marina earlier this year, I know how much of a terrifying experience it can be. Glad to see that the fire department response was quick and saved other boats/houses from it spreading further. I was on site at my marina about an hour after it started and was amazed at the response - fire boats, scuba divers, about 15 fire engines. It was impressive.

That's an interesting setup at the marina. Are there living quarters in each of those units? Seems like several have a second story and some air conditioning!

Mike probably can say for sure as I haven't been in one, but I have seen a few pictures.
They vary, but most have a kitchen and an area for hanging out.
I'm sure there are living quarters in some, but the city ordinance prohibits full time living in them.
Some of them are pretty nice.

Last summer wife and me were hanging at marina. The marina gave them an abandoned boat for practice. So we watched while the FD trained on a boat fire. It was amazing. I cant even go into all the things they trained for that day. Like when in winter storage and stacked, never walk between boats for the domino effect when all start to collapse.
Thing I remember is the fire chief saying they hate it when Good Samaritans untie a fire boat and push it out into the water. Now they have a huge fire they can’t get to and don’t know where it will drift to and create another blaze.
We had a good day learning about boats on fire. And how FD deal with it.

PS. After been thru a house fire and watching them train boat fire I can tell you this. And don’t take this as a criticism. They do not give a damn about your property. They are there for 2 things, save lives, stop the fire spread. That’s is. They will do whatever it takes to accomplish that goal.
We just took an axe to your boat, call insurance. We just busted thru your roof to vent the fire, call insurance.
After my house fire, one fireman looked at me and said you are getting all new windows except these 2 where the fire didn’t reach. And winked, want them to match? And busted out those 2.
Point is, if your boat or the one next to it is on fire they are not there to save your boat, they don’t give a damn about you $500k boat, they are there to put out the fire. That’s it.

If my boat was on fire, and endangering others, I wouldn't give a damn about it either. I would want them to save all other boats they could.
That's what insurance is for.

Most of those boat houses are set up with the slip for the boat and a kitchen/dining/bar area on the first floor for entertaining. Second floor for many/most has a bedroom and bathroom.

Most of those are VERY nicely decorated. We just had a progressive dinner at the club that started with appetizers on the row of boathouses where the fire started. After the appetizers members wandered to the next dock for hors d'ouvers then on for dinner and dessert. A good time was had by all and to the best of my knowledge, nobody fell in.

Our club sponsors the Christmas Lighted Boat Parade every year. 19 boats participated this year and I was fortunate enough to go along with a friend on his 340 Dancer. After the parade there is always a gathering at the club to hand out trophies, drink hot buttered rum, dine on clam chowder, all donated by a restaurant on the island where the club is.

Funny thing about the parade Mike.
My wife, myself, Jim(Sundancer), and his wife went to The Crow's Nest to watch the boats.
They were so close to shore we didn't see a thing from our seats. I guess that's out in the furure.
Glad to hear it was a good turnout.
