I couldn't hardly believe my eyes when I got to the dock to put my boat on it's trailer. There was a brand new Fountain, 38ft W/A with three 275 hp Mercs. Huge boat for my lake, anyways the wind was blowing hard pushing his boat into the finger pier. It was then I noticed this tiny woman on the dock pushing aganist the side of the boat in an effort to keep it off the dock. Tiny woman against 20,000lbs of boat, with wind pushing against the side. Guess who won. Scratch the black gel coat is the outcome. Made me sick to say the least. Then I notice he has no fenders out. Man I don't get the men who put their wives in harms way. Many men just wish their wives would go out on the boat with them. I don't blame women for not wanting to go because of this type of behavior. Then to get fused at for not keeping the boat off the dock. WOW, is all I can say. Then she goes up gets the truck, backs the trailer down the ramp and all he can say is "can't you get the trailer straighter". Man it was hurting my feelings, here is a woman that attempts to help, does a good job but it's not good enough. He'll wonder later why she doesn't want to go back out on the boat, and then complain that she doesn't. WOW, WOW, WOW!

are you saying this isn't normal procedure? oooopppsss

As the saying goes... You can't fix stupid!

The yelling and carrying on part always kills me. :smt043 Think he planned on getting lucky later that night? :smt018 :smt043 :smt043 :smt043

I think what you saw was an exception rather than the rule. Fortunately I see a lot of couples working together well from experience. Occasionally you will see someone who has a load of money and buys a huge boat they have no idea on how to handle. Those people are the idiots.

Sorry, but it's HER fault for going out with a guy owning a "Go Fast." You know what they say about those guys....

Ok, it only her fault if she went out the second time :smt021  :smt021

My wife and I had this communication discussion the other day and concluded that the $25 for potable radio vs my having to yell loud enough for her to hear me when we are backing down, tying off is not worth my relationship. So I got a clue. Our wives are not going to enjoy it if we wear them out just getting in. Last time I checked most women enjoy setting home in a clean house with a good book no listening to us yelling at them.

Easy problem to solve.

My wife most of the time drives the boat to the dock while I handle the lines. I never say a word about a few scratches. Stuff happens. Boating is about fun. I will not win the shiney boat contest but I enjoy my wife and the boat, in that order.

The radios are also a great help in loading the boat. Invariably we always leave something in the truck and I can be told to bring it with me instead of making two trips.

I always enjoy watching the man-yelling-at-wife-while-docking shows. I've been tempted a few times to go over and start yelling at the wife too just to see if I can make her cry... "YOUR HUSBAND IS RIGHT. WHY DON'T YOU PUT YOUR LEG BETWEEN THE BOAT AND THE PIER TO PROTECT IT. YOUR LEG WILL HEAL. THE BOAT WILL NOT. I WOULD DIVORCE YOU IN A MINUTE YOU STUPID WOMAN!" then walk away.

I had a bad childhood.

We need to start a collection for Gary right now. You are going to need the extra cash for the rehablitation from the broken neck that women is going to give you. :smt021 :smt043
