This is currently the forecast for my area for this coming Saturday.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8am, then a chance of showers between 8am and 2pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

NOAA: Yes, there will be weather on Saturday...

I have not noticed a marked increase in weather forecasting accuracy in the past 30 years.

Isn’t that an interesting thought, with all the technology we have now they still cannot forecast weather any better than they could back in the day…

I actually know a meteorologist located in the Dekalb, IL area. When he posts a weather warning, he is usually pretty accurate. And he updates his forecast as things get closer.

And so were our ancestors, they read the skies and barometric pressures, all without radar, they knew the warning signs too.

TV news/weather is all about ratings and clicks, and nothing else. I would trust the pilots on this forum considerably more than the published BS…

Being a weather forecaster is the only job where you can be wrong 90% of the time and still be paid.

The way I say it is. Being a weather forecaster is the only job where you can be wrong every day and not get fired.

We VERY seldom let the weather keep us from going out, especially if we were having friends join us and also if we were on our way somewhere not just out for an afternoon.

Traveling the Columbia is almost always windy but we just kept going.

Here on one of the 5 inland oceans... I base the decision more upon "how much fun" my guests will have. The wind could be relatively normal but if it comes from the north, the waves could be brutal. I want my guests to enjoy themselves, not worrying about chucking off the side of the boat.

Here in the Chesapeake there's always rain and usually on the hottest of days in the afternoon. Not worth giving anything up for. Hot day, I love the rain.
