The wonderful state of California has initiated a new program for license plates for cars in that state. They're called Digital License plates and they are the next miracle thing for people who want to have the latest and greatest thing to show off their cars. For just about $25 additional cost you too can have them.

In addition to the usual number displayed on the plate there is an area where you can get a changeable message displayed. Sounds good so far, right?

Ya knew there had to be a downside to these plates right, they allow the state to track the location of every car that has the plates on them.

Yup, Big Brother is watching.

If you carry a cell phone they do all that anyway.
 
Hey, at least for the plate thing one needs to opt in and order one. The phone thing, by now unless you want to live like the uni-bomber, you need a 5 G cell phone just to live and survive. It has gotten such that it has pretty much been made a legal right to have a phone that the state will pay for. People just don't care anymore about the concept of true privacy. I won't sign up for new tech that is blatantly abuses my privacy.
 
I've been running a no-root VPN app on my android phone for six or seven years now, called NetGuard, and it shuts down all communication from the apps you install while your phone sits idle. If you turn on logging, the amount of shit the various app try to phone home about is ... disheartening/discouraging/disgusting/abomination etc.
 
I see so,e upside to being able to put my own message up for cars behind me...lol. But yeah, I'd pass on this. Something else that can be hacked

With the newer phones I don't think that matters. That is why the made it so the batteries are no longer easily removed.

That’s what most of us said about the Patriot Act, including myself. Now look at the mess we have. Heck, now we’re on the docket to be checked on by Government if we move $600 or more.

Bush did not get my vote for his second term because of the patriot act and the Iraq war. I was hoping more people did what I did and wrote in Ron Paul. I really didn't see Bush as any better than Gore at the time. Still don't, all run by the same people behind the scenes. I consider myself a Minarchist. I want zero government in my life . Not more.

OH speaking of EZPASS. Last month I had $25 in the account. Then in 1 day it went to 4. Son has no tolls in AZ, same with daughter in Tampa. I called, oh they have no idea where the money went. This is the third farking time it has happened.
EZPASS is a farking scam. I canceled the account, thru transponder in trash.
It’s a scam. Now, they can send me a bill with picture of car, plate, date, time. No more auto pay. Beware, pay attention to your monthly statement, they are ripping people off, and it’s not the government, EZPASS is a private company out of Seattle that the states contract thru.
