Unnecessary, my friend...although you had the right idea for sure.Evacuate as much of the water as possible with a wet dry vac using a hose small enough to fit in the inlet and inserted in to the vac hose.
Then fill with CLR and let sit for 24 hrs?
Followed by snaking if it can be angled to make the turn?

I pulled the raw water hose off the genset side of the sea strainer and pushed it into the bottom of this bottle and started the genset up with a bucket at the end of the tailpipe. One gallon and it was all cleared out. Sucked the first half gallon down (likely filling all the lines) and then was clearly hung up as the liquid level didn't move...but about 30 seconds after that, the rest of it was sucked down. Hooked the water and exhaust lines back up and ran the genset with raw water...
