While poking around trying to figure out where to mount my new bridge PC, I came across this box. Does anyone know what this thing is? It was powered on (The green LED on the rocker switch was lit).

It had cables connected, I removed them for the picture. The wires run into a big bundle and I couldn't determine where they went without cutting all the ties.

The connections are a DB9, an HD15, and a BNC.

With it disconnected, I can't seem to find anything that doesn't work any more.

It's pretty long, maybe 12"

No other markings on it?

My WAG is an electronics black box of some sort. I've only seen BNC connectors used for video and Loran antennas. Any antennas you can't account for?

Why would you think that? Because it has electronic connections and is in the electronics area?

I don't have that under my helm.. Based on the VGA connection and serial connection ports, I'm guessing it's the CPU for your Sea Ray Crapagator... Send it to me so I can see if I can hack into the thing.

It is definately not the CPU for the Navigator. I removed that, it was essentially a panel PC. It has the motherboard mounted right behind the LCD. I still have to do a post about the dissassembly. I can bring it to AC to show you if you want.

I can't imagine what would need the antenna connection, maybe an AIS receiver?
I'll try to pull it out soon, I just have so little time lately.

Greg, I had a crapigator (sp?) for a short period. It did have a remote black box very similar to the one pictured as well as a bunch of crap attached to the back of the display. We (soneone other than me) did hack the thing, there is a "daily" password that was pretty simple to figure out and we put xp on the thing and sold it on ebay. One of the better moves I made, after getting rid of the raycrap chartplotter and radar.

Well that would explain why everything I tried still worked, The Navigator was disconnected so I couldn't try that. I wonder what the antenna is for?

GPS

I know it should be caps, but this stupid piece o' crap software keeps making it mixed case! Now it stays as caps when I have this in the post, too. argh!

Looks like it could be a NMEA wifi doohicky. feed NMEA data into it and transmits it via wifi.
