Spent our first weekend out this past weekend, and we noticed the helm bench seat seemed to lean back more that what seemed normal. Not uncomfortable to sit in, but it leaned back far enough that sitting on the rear-facing bench behind it was not real feasible. Your head bumped the seat back before you could lean all the way back.
This looks like a common issue? And the only way to fix it is to dismantle the seat for repairs?
Thanks - Todd
Found a number of leaks after the Texas deep freeze. I'm checking the plumbing but cant find any markings on the pipes. Does anyone know if SeaRay uses PEX, PVC or PERT for their piping?
Who keeps a 400 EC in the backyard??
Be sure to check the inboard stringers. Bought mine about 2 years ago and the engine room stringers were dryer than the inboards.
I know. Who does that when you can keep it in the front yard!!Who keeps a 400 EC in the backyard??

Yes, that's the areaWhen you say inboard stringers, does that mean in the red marked area? We do learn english in norwegian schools, but not these maritime expressions
The seller is partially paralyzed from a work accident, so I cant expect any help from him when it comes to survey or testing.. and thats why the boat is in his backyard.

I just purchased a 1998 400EC at Lake of the Ozarks. I've read every post in this thread, and just want to thank you all for your contributions here. I learned a lot from you while waiting for the deal to close. I think I found a good one, and I'm looking forward to the coming season. I'll post a picture or two when I get her out on the water.
Sounds like we'll be neighbors, Jon. I'm on Dock 4. I bought it off-market through Jay Clark. My best friend also has a '98 400EC at the lake. I'll bet we could pull off a rally this summer without too much trouble.Congrats on your purchase.....we are over at the Lodge....Hopefully we will catch up with you this summer. Have tried to organize a 400 rally in the past. Might give it another try.

I'm more curious as to how you acquired this schematic, if you don't mind me asking? - ToddWhen you say inboard stringers, does that mean in the red marked area? We do learn english in norwegian schools, but not these maritime expressions

So I went to all the trouble of sanding, staining, and finishing the table top, only to misplace ("You lost it", says my wife) the "grip" piece that screws into the bottom (screws into the circled area). And I have to replace it, or suffer the consequences. I've already been to the manufacturer website (difficult to navigate), and other supply houses (looks like I can only buy the entire assembly for $200+). Please point me in the right direction to purchase just the one piece. Thank you!View attachment 103091
