17 years of ownership, use FW's additive suggestions, run at 20-22 kts, and always have minor sooting...Couple of hours cruise
Problem is how to start then stop the coolant. The J pipe is not easily accessed and stuffing the plug back in make a big mess. This is what keeps me from switching back to the 185* T-stats.anyone know roughly how much coolant needs to be drained to swap the thermostats? I recently did a coolant swap so it doesn't need a flush, I'll capture and refill after the T-stat. I'm guessing 2-3 gallons should do it since its just the expansion tank and a couple hoses

But I think 3 gallons a side would cover you.
True. I drill pumped some out a while back from the top of the expansion tank, then drained that bypass hose. Might be more work that it’s worth, I want to put drain valves in anyway, so maybe I’ll drain the whole system and do them now
Same here. @ Maybe a Dancer. Can you confirm the thread and valve you used? Maybe a reducer to an EZ Oil valve.Drain plug. Thinking I'll go the same route since I'm due to drain my coolant. Any idea what thread/fitting size the plug is? 3/4-16 straight thread I think, but not sure
How many gallons of antifreeze are you guys running thru your raw water cooling side to winterize? I use 7 gal per engine. Also drain raw water out of trans cooler and vacuum out the strainer before adding the AF.

Many thanks to @Strecker25. A few years ago, he posted his experience with installing Isspro EGT and boost gauges, complete with part numbers. I copied and pasted into my “to do” file. Finally pulled the trigger and ordered the parts about 15 days ago. A few of the part numbers changed, but Lucy Wade at Isspro cross referenced. Received everything today.
Yeah! she replied in 2 hours.Their customer service is amazing. Turbocator!!
Awesome. Post up pics of the install and your results next year.Yeah! she replied in 2 hours.
Steve,
I have pasted the links to the part numbers you are looking for!

I’d do the same as on the hard for us - stick the hose in a big bucket of AF and run it for about 30 seconds. That’s assuming you’re able to start it?Winterizing question for a 3116 engine not in the boat.
Got the starboard 3116 back from T&S Marine. Given how the boat is now buried amongst other boats for the winter, won't be installing the engine until March.
So, wondering what/how to winterize the engine as it's in an unheated garage.
Reached out to T&S but thought I'd ask here as well.
