My poop monitor only shows the word “power”. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Not familiar with the exact set up but does it have a display above the “power” ? Have you filled it up with a hose and seen 1/2 or 3/4 or full? Floats may be stuck. Have you treated it to clean it yet? My trick is a bunch of tide powder and oxy clean 3/4 full with fresh water go find a place to anchor where it is choppy and let it work for a few hours then to the pump out station and see if that works. Otherwise it is pull out the floats and clean them to verify the gauge works out of the tank but that is not a fun job.

Mine shows power (in Red lights) when the switch is on. If I've just pumped out, it will also show Empty (in Green lights). After use, it will show 1/2 (Red) and then Full. There's no indicators for other levels. If you just have Power showing, it likely means you are somewhere between Empty and 1/2.

Never heard of this before but I like the idea.

That's how mine worked. Agree that if the tank rises and you don't get an indicator change then the float is likely stuck.

Sooner or later everyone has problems with the float system. Regular use of No-Flex Digester seems to go a long way preventing the gunk buildup. I use it once a month in all of the waste systems.
However, still, problems with that level indicator system will crop up. Hence the modification I did -

THIS

For some mystical reason, EMPTY to HALF goes much slower than HALF to FULL

Agree w others who have posted. Copious amounts of NOFLEX (or Carters Poopy Powder) works wonders and I would do a full pump out and see what you show. Then follow up with the garden hose to see if you get a reading.

Tom, will you explain which parts you ordered and what installation procedures you used? I can see the monitor, but what went on the tank, how did you run the monitor to the display, etc? Mike

First I have a NMEA 2000 data backbone throughout the boat so It's a simple matter to add features and modifications.
For the waste tank I added a Maretron TLM100 ultrasonic level sensor. It is a standard 5 bolt SAE flange (1.25 inch hole saw and some self-tapping screws). Actually I have one on the waste tank and the fresh water tank as well. The sensor is a simple single connection to the NMEA 2000 network in the lazzerette. Then in my solon power panel I removed the fresh water level indicator which got fried in a lightning strike and installed a Maretron DSM410 (there was the perfect amount of space) and again simply connected to the network that I had behind the panel. Some configuration on how you would like to see the data and that is it. Very simple.
I can't find a pic of the sensor on the waste tank but this is the one on the fresh water tank - same installation. You can see the OEM float style sensor adjacent to the Maretron sensor. That display gets any and all data on the NMEA 2000 network including generator, engines, depth, temperatures, Systems Monitor, heading, anchor drag, etc, etc.

Who knew holding tanks, poop, pump outs and such could be so sexy ;)

I love this set up.

By the way - If you do this mod make sure to coat the exposed face of the sensor with Vaseline or the grease that comes with it so the sloshing stuff will not stick to it. I've had no issues with it at all in over two years.

Is this No Flex, and is this a fair price:

I cannot tell if this replaces the stuff I put in after a pump out, or it's a supplement to it.

Fisheries Supply has a much better price, and that get's slightly better -- under $20/each -- if you buy several containers at once.

It's not a supplement; it's generally all you need.

Sometimes useful to do a separate tank cleaning with something like Tide/Oxy or Cascade powder.

Thanks, I read the instructions, not super clear other than add it every day. Does that mean every day you are on the boat using the head?

That is a lot - I put a tablespoon in each head and the waste sump once a month. But that is when the boat is a dock queen. If we are on a trip I usually forget but try to remember after every tank dump.

Yeah, but then they hit you with $13+ for shipping so it works out to be about the same on Amazon with free/prime shipping as best I can tell.
