Does anyone have any suggestions for renting a pickup truck to pull my 280DA about 200 miles? The boat weight is beyond the towing capacity of my truck. I have done some googleing but have not seen alot of options. Was thinking maybe someone here had rented a truck before for this task.

Thanks!

I move small office construction trailers using tow trucks and pilot cars. Usually around 2 dollars a mile.

In my area, Enterprise has Superduty pickups available. You need to contact a truck office, not the regular car rental office.

Maybe you'll luck out and a member with a capable truck will help. I'd do it if I wasn't 1000 miles away. Good luck.

Rent a Penske box truck and do a one way move. Should be under $100 for the truck, gas extra, and no mileage charge.

If you do rent, double check the rating of the hitch.

Some of the factory hitches are not rated as high as the tow capacity unless you use a weight distributing hitch.

Is it a one time deal? Do you own the trailer? At the risk of sounding like a parinoid newbie....I think I'd look into someone doing it for me. Maybe your marina or local dealer. Between the cost of renting, fuel, headaches. Ok, maybe I am a parinoid newbie.

I don't think the insurance company would look to favorably on you if you filed a claim for an incident that took place while you pulled your boat around with a rented box van.
