So question is on a 22 year old boat with 8.1s 760 hours do I go ahead and replace heat exchangers, Oil, Tranny and Fuel Coolers?
I have no issues and temps are all good. Not a fan of waiting for things to break in the middle of a short season but also don't want to throw money at something that is not needed.
Thanks!!

It's just money!

I've had a tranny cooler go on me but it was beyond 1,000 hours. If you're into DIY there's a company called Mr Cool that provides great quality products. A solid alternative to OEM...

Not owning a diesel, I went the route of replacing manifolds and exchangers, starter, etc…during Covid. I was at 600hrs, knew it was due even tho I had no issues, and had fun doing it (sort of). If you have the funds and time, go for it.

One thing I’d recommend is do one thing at a time and then make sure your boat runs. I did the motor maintenance, replaced all the gauges as well as the EIM and switches. Then I had an issue and wasn’t sure what caused it.

I would do the transmission and oil coolers .
They're Cheap and you'll have a baseline of when they are done.
If a trans cooler fails water will get into trans.

If you don't know how old they are the thing to worry about is the exhaust manifold/riser/elbow. They should be replaced every ~5yrs, if you want to be proactive if your in saltwater. If zincs are maintained, then the rest should last a long time.

A rad shop can clean test and rebuild the main heat exchanger. As noted Mr Cool has good stuff. Keep one old oil and one old transmission cooler as spares and cut the other two in half and see how they are. I had an oil cooler fail. I was lucky as I just kept adding oil until we got to a marina then replaced. When the engine cooled it sucked salt water into the oil. Did not run it that way, been 2,000 hours and engine still good.

Thanks For the responses
Manifiolds are always changed out 4-5 years. That was my thought on the Oil and Tranny coolers and Mr Cool had decent pricing.
