SeaDek and variants

I've used snapincarpet several times -- for carpet and their version of sea dek. I even did my office desk in sea dek

Quick question on the vinyl weave flooring. I removed the old carpet on my Sundeck before the season this year. It was old and worn out. My wife has put new carpet higher on the priority list than the wakeboard tower I was going to install next spring (though I still might be able to slip that one in...singers crossed). We have a dog who hates to walk on the non-skid gelcoat and it does get a bit slippery when wet. We were looking a different materials at a boat show this last weekend and I thought of a few questions.

1. What kind of backing is good backing or is no backing better? The OEM carpet got stuck to the floor and left all these little black dots everywhere that were a pain to get off. So I don't want to get into that situation again. I'm also worried about water getting underneath the flooring. If there is a closed cell backing, with the water just stay there and fester? I was hoping to get something that breathes a little so that I don't have to snap it in and out all the time to dry it out and make sure mildew doesn't grow. We do lots of water sports so the boat sees lots of water in the cockpit. I found some that come with a felt backing that seemed promising but am unsure. Am I over thinking this? When I asked about water getting trapped underneath and being a mold/mildew problem, the vender I spoke to at the boat show looked at me like I had snakes coming out of my ears. Is this not a concern with this type of product?

2. How stain resistant is the vinyl weave? Seems like is should be pretty solid in this category. It needs to handle, soda, beer, wine, and fish blood (though I probably won't be doing much of the type of fishing where there will be lots of this).

3. Does it get hot in the sunlight?

4. Can anyone speak to how well it holds up to dog claws? Not daggers but a 40lbs vizsla (similar to a lab but very prissy).

5. Companies people have used?

Thanks!

Working on my spring list of upgrades.

1. The backing on Infinity is water proof. I have never had a problem with mold or mildew. The OEM carpets were a problem.

2. I bleed on our Infinity PVC flooring regularly. Washes right off.

3. I got a relatively light color and it does not.

4. Can't speak to dogs.

5. @Quint4 at thecanvasmedic.com is a CSR member and did ours. He did an amazing job.

+1 but I can add that vinyl is dog proof. I have a 70 pounder that regularly travels across my marine weave, zero issues. Another source for this stuff is snapincarpet.com. I've twice bought from them, great service. I think they may be the OEM provider to Sea Ray? I thought I heard that somewhere...

My dark(ish) gray gets very hot in the sun. In mid summer we have to put towels down or put the sunshade up. It's too hot to stand on when the sun is blasting directly down on it.
