I am thinking about adding SiriusXM to the boat. It's also in my 2 cars, though I do not have a subscription. I asked a buddy who has it if I'd have to have multiple subscriptions. He said No, he has one subscription and uses Bluetooth from his phone for the others (boat, 2nd car, house, etc.).

PO installed this, so I assume all I need is a subscription to use it, or Bluetooth from my phone, with a subscritpion, and not use it: https://www.amazon.com/SIRIUS-SCC1-Connect-Universal-Tuner/dp/B000Q9UFKU?th=1

Also, if I user the existing SIRIUS tuner from the boat (url above) with the subscription should I get a newer tuner, or is the one I have good enough?

What have you done?

I’d use Blue Tooth. I have a Spotify subscription and use it in our F150, in our 250 Sundancer, and will eventually in our 33 Sundancer. You create your own play list(s) and if you get premium you’ll have no commercials. I got premium duo for my wife and I and it costs a whopping 10 bucks a month. Great bang for the buck.

I use Bluetooth (edit: for SiriusXM) and it works great through the Fusion. If you have good signal, I can’t see why you wouldn’t. However, if I was boating 10 months out of the year and heading to the Bahamas, I’d probably get it.

Your not going to be happy with the BT sound quality at all. The SiriusXM receiver for the boat will give much better sound quality.

But if you want the streaming, add on internet to your car Sirius account and then you can stream from your phone or other streaming device. Keep in mind there isn't always a cell signal available where we boat. And your phone will need to be relatively close to the head unit to keep streaming.

EDIT: I have both on the boat, the sirius tuner and also stream through a Sonos connect to the Fusion head. The Sonos is connected via TOS link (optical) and streams via starlink inet.

Really? The Bluetooth sounds great in everything we use it in. Plus with Spotify premium you don’t need WiFi to play off your stored playlists. And I can go about 30 ft away from the radio while usinG BT.

Agree. Only problem for us is crossing the lake and losing cell signal. But between us all, we have enough stored songs to DJ for a while.

I find that connected to the fusion with USB and setting streaming quality to Maximum gets pretty close in quality to the built in tuner.

I installed a fusion bt adapter to my factory clarion and it works fine for me. I connect to the Sirius on my phone and while I’m no audio expert - I think it sounds great.

I am an old lifetime subscriber (was 199 for life back in the day). I Bluetooth to cars and boat with no issues. Sound is way better than local radio station. I think there is a way to download hours of content to curb the lost signal issue.

To each his own I guess. Fusion BT is not the best and they have had their issues in the past. The head unit is in the cabin close to the floor so that may have something to do with reception, but I can't sit in my transom lounge seat and stay connected to the BT.

I have premium Pandora and Spotify, but use a Sonos connect to stream through.

Yes, BT is way better then that for sure. And yes you can get a lot of content through their app.

Ok, so one subscription, use it on one of my head units (boat or 1 of the 2 cars) and use the mobile app for the other - thanks.

We use only Bluetooth tied to a JBL Bluetooth receiver tied into the aux port on an older Clarion CMD4. It works great for what we need! My ears are not what they used to be, so I never know the difference if there is any....

Also if you ever cruise south to the Milwaukee area, you’re welcome stop by The South Milwaukee Yacht Club and I’ll buy ya a cold one. We have transient docking at a reasonable price too.

At one time, I had Sirius in four vehicles and on the boat... something like $1,000 a year. Got to where I could'nt stand the DJ's and their stupid comments (don't get me started on Kristine Stone!). Got rid of all Sirius subscriptions except in the wife's car and went to BT streaming Spotifiy. Never turning back.

I'm fine with The Highway and Y2Country dj's. That's 90% of my listening. None on Yacht Rock and not much talk on Road Trip.
