So, lets talk weather....

@Yendor Trivia question for you: Against who did Tampa Bay get their first victory? No cheating!

Ended up with an inch of rain over the last 24 hours. Better rain than snow as far as I'm concerned. Weather guessers are talking about 2 to 6 inches Friday night into Saturday.
Well that 2" we got last night.....sure caused a mess this morning....cars in the ditch....took me an hour to get to work when it usually takes 15 minutes..... You would think you michiganders have figured out snow by now....maybe if you didnt drive 100mph eveywhere you wouldnt fall off the damn highway

I suspect you know it was the Saints, but I have to admit that I couldn't narrow it down between them and the Oilers. While I was trying to resolve that brain cramp, it occurred to me that with your screen name being Jaybeaux, maybe you were from those parts and watched that game with less excitement than I did, so would have made that my guess. ;) It would have been a lucky one, in any case.

I did remember that it was a way south team not the fish heads, and the game was won by the defense with a bunch of interceptions (which seems to have started a decades long precedent).

Anybody that grew up down here couldn't forget Lee Roy Selmon and Richard 'Batman' Woods. To move from having no team, to having half a team (a defense that is) was a truly remarkable time in these parts. Batman was my favorite player for years, he was one of a very small group that was simple a joy to watch play. Damn, that guy was fast! It's fitting that Lavonte David currently sports his old number.

100 MPH is the way of life up here.

I got pulled over going thru Novi last year for doing 101mph. I lost it with the cop. I told him I was driving the speed limit…. I thought you pulled me over for impeding traffic…. You people are nuts up here…. He kinda laughed and let me go

Winner, winner! I was a senior in High School that fall. Our Calculus/Physics teacher was also a coach on the football team. Our mascot was also the Buccaneers. Coach came to class that morning just pissed that the Saints lost. And lost to a team with, and this is a quote, "a fruit Buccaneer mascot". Those were the days.

That loss was perhaps the Saints' low water mark. It was a shame that they never had any success while Archie was under center. I often wonder what his stats would have been like if he hadn't always been playing from behind the 8 ball and running for his life.

Memories!

Here's my imitation of a TV weatherman...

We're getting hammered by the storm moving through. Snow is falling like crazy and accumulating fast. No sign of it letting up soon. If you don't have to go somewhere, please shelter in place and stay until this blizzard moves on.

Now the real thing....

Yup, honey, it snowed about an inch last night but the sun is out and it's melting. ;)
Typical Maryland forecast. I gotta give Marty Bass, local weatherman, kinda funny, just today at noon he said “well looks like we have another rain blizzard coming next week.”

Yeah, they have been very good at creating new phrases to describe the weather. My latest favorite is "Bomb Cyclone" to describe a snow storm.

When I grew up in Michigan we'd get 6" snow storms on an almost daily basis. We thought nothing of it and I made money shoveling out neighborhood driveways.

Now those 6" snowfalls are described in some very exciting terms. They're no longer just snow storms.

Im sure a few of you grew up in the snow belt / lake effect of the lakes. We shoveled so much GD snow it was piled so high on sides of the driveway we couldn’t throw it higher. Shoveled it into wheelbarrow and dump it in the street. 70s were especially brutal. That’s why I got the hell outta there.
They would pile the snow in piles so high in mall parking lots with a front end loader we would have lotteries like people do blocks for Super Bowl now, to bet when the pile would finally melt sometime in June.
Global warming? Fark Yes!!! Bring it on.

If they don’t make weather sound dramatic…. Then we wouldn’t be scared of global warming

It was a greasy mess on the roads last night. Truck didn't want to turn or stop worth a hoot making a run to Jet's Pizza. Ran the snowblower last night about 7 then hand shoveled slush at 9. This morning, I had to re-clear the drive and sidewalk from the slush the plow truck threw up. He must have been flying. I'm done... Watching the last day of Mecum this afternoon

and the golf on Hawaii tonight.

Last night prediction for Tuesday was 8” here. This morning, 10 hours later, its 2”. I swear by Monday it will be a slight rain mist predicted and get slammed with 2 feet.
WTF is WRONG with weather forecasting these days! They are 1000 times worse than even 10 years ago. Cant be counted on for shat.
Wife has cross town appointment and doesn’t know whether to postpone or not. This is farking unacceptable in 2024.

My Galley Wench is headed to Phoenix this morning with her cousin for five days. It was 2 degrees when I took her to the airport at 0815.

I have said, being a weatherman is the only job where you can be wrong everyday and not get fired.

He said good question I don’t know…. Fuckn phuckr
