How much play is normal for a steering wheel in a twin stern drive boat? I am constantly adjusting course at low speeds, but tracks well at high speeds.

I think some wandering is typical of stern drives at no-wake speeds. Steering wheel "play" would generally suggest you're able to move the steering wheel a certain amount without actually moving the drives.

So do you have "play" or does your boat wander a bit at slow speeds?

If it's wander, twins with counter rotating props do not wander. If you have twins with props that swing the same direction, the the wander is the same as with a single engine I/O and you have to put up with the wander issue at slow speeds. It's called torque steer.

Later this week I will get out and confirm the play. I believe it is about 3” I can move wheel with no affect on direction of boat. First time I have owned a twin stern drive. My other boat was an inboard V drive so a whole different feel. Thanks for the replies!
