I have a 37' cruiser and looking for recommendations on size of anchor for stern to prevent swing when spending the night on the hook. Planning a trip to the North Channel.

Think Mine is a 12 lb danforth. not sure I like the box anchor. we swim a lot in the areas where the anchors are behind us. I'd hate to have someone trip or fall on that anchor with the teeth aimed up like that.

^^^ What he said!

I've had a few others but now that I have the fortress I'll never need to look again. Easy to handle, less chance of damaging your boat, and has never let go in some pretty stout winds.

I also agree. Great that the Fortress breaks down for storage.

Aluminum fortress is the way to go. I use it with a 5' of chain and 100' of line.

14# Lewmar claw anchor with 20' of chain and 200' of line. We have mud or mud with weeds and nothing holds better in these conditions.

I just recently purchased a Fortress FX-23 for our 460. I use 6' of chain and 150' braided band. This anchor ROCKs! Quickly bites and holds in the 3-4 uses so far. I, additionally, like the fact that I can break it down and put it into a soft sided carrying case and stow away.
