Stove top safety switch 2003 300DA

Update: looked everywhere, couldn't find the switch, decided to pull the fridge and bypass the switch. Now I get a nice orange glow for the first time when I turn on the burners. I always keep the stove burner in the off position.

What about through your SR dealer as I mentioned above?

I reached out to my local dealer but I haven't heard yet.

Even if I could get one it looks like a real #$%^& to replace. First of all it's right up against the side of the stove. From the looks of it you would need to remove the stove, but you can't access the stove screws unless the fridge is all the way out, and I can only get it partially out (enough to do the bypass). I couldn't see the bottom of the switch but I was able to take a pic of it (looking up). As you can see, SR thought it would be an awesome idea to cover it with 10 pounds of silicone to the point where you can't even see the nut that holds it on from the bottom.

After I turned on the breaker and bypassed the switch I could hear a relay click behind the AC panel so it must be back there.

So SR came through if you can believe it !!!

I ordered a few just in case they become obsolete again.

I bypassed it for now since I really wanted to use my stove this summer as we're trying to eat on the boat a couple times a week to mix it up.

But if I can get it back to stock at some point -- even better!

Good deal. Yeah, I think there was something like 300 or 400 in stock the last time I checked. But, yeah, I can see how that it is "a bit" difficult to get to! Regaring the sillycone, typically that is used in large quantities where fumes are to be kept away from the cabin/sleeping area - I'm not visualizing that are well enough to say exactly why it's there - but that's the usual reason, anyways.

It's in .... $40 for the part  .... I think I'll toss it in my parts bin until I get motivated to fix it :D

Hello!
You guys write about taking the switch out and soaking it. My dumb question is how do you get it out? Does the counter top have to come off, or the refrig have to come out? Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave, I don't have the 300 anymore but I did have to pull the fridge to get at it.

If the button part is stuck, you can spray it from the top first to see if you can get it un-stuck.

To replace the switch, you have to pull the fridge.

I was able to spray it from above -- get it un-stuck -- but then the internals grenaded and the switch was no good. I ended up bypassing the switch so I could use the burners.

Thanks Fill Ess!

I will definitely spray it from the top and hopefully get it working. If not, the fridge is going to need to be replaced at some point. I'll tackle the switch and fridge replacement at the same time.

Having had a 300 in the past, perhaps you can answer another question that I posted. The shower drain is plugged. I'd like to get access to that drain, and the vacuflush hose at the toilet bowl, under the fiberglass shell. How is that carpeted trim panel between the cabin floor and the head door attached? Another member (and I) think it is screwed on. Do you happen to know for sure? If it is screwed on, how many screws am I looking for?

Thanks, Again!!!

They are screwed in. The screw heads will be hidden inside the carpet tuft. Start at the corners and "feel" for the heads. It's a 5 minute job once you start... and makes more sense when you just start doing it, too.

Thanks for the information!! I'll be working on this Saturday!!
