SunDeck 270 Winterization Question

Some manufacturers say purple is ethylene glycol based and some say it is safe for potable water (propylene glycol). There are only so many colors available. I drain my engine dry for the winter and put green antifreeze in at 50:50 (max protection for cars) in the spring. The pink recommendation is said to be for corrosion protection but would also benefit those who can't figure out how to drain all the lake water. Then there is the issue of why you would want to fog a 4-stroke. Let somebody else do it and sue him if your block cracks or your hamster dies.

It appears you're relaying information from internet searching and not from experience. Research is good, but the problem here is that you're taking things off track because the stuff you're talking about has nothing to do with the stuff we use for winterization. It's a pointless comment and will only serve to confuse those who are trying to learn how to do things right.

And, regarding your comment "The pink recommendation is said to be for corrosion protection but would also benefit those who can't figure out how to drain all the lake water"... I know how to drain block, but I also use the pink stuff... for reasons previously mentioned... maybe you didn't read? Normally, that might be an offensive comment - but given the source... ;)

Dear Lazy:
My suggestion is that any reader who chooses to follow your excellent and experience based instructions should do so precisely and without making substitutions.
John
PS. I did sample green ethylene glycol anti-freeze long ago and found it tasted like sweet syrup. Spat that out and washed my mouth. Making an assumption or two, pets would lap that up. You will have to consult a vet as to its toxicity or you could read the label.

Whatever you do, don't put a TC heater in the block. Lots of stupid ideas on the net, but that one takes the cake.

Second, purple or pink, it's no matter. The only difference is the temperature requirement. Screw the dog. You won't pour it on the ground anyway.

Green eth glycol is another story. Use it if you like, but drain it later and don't discharge it in the waterway.

Pink is not pink. The cheap stuff at the dollar store is for bathrooms in RV trailers. Buy the expensive stuff that clearly states "for engines".
