Over 2 weeks ago, found out the truth that my version of Raymarine Chartplotter has the latest software (2004-05 - Uses "Plus" Maps).
I finally found out how to update my charts - send the chip in and have it updated for $109. It has to still work - they recommend sending it by a tracking mail service (UPS....). I arranged to do this. They took payment info and promised an e-mail that night with the necessary info. After work the next day, no e-mail, so I called. Got the info over the phone with an apology. Spent $16 to send the chip in at normal speed. They promised 1-2 day turn around.
It arrived at their shop on the 25th. No chip in my mail yet. I called today. "We'll look for it." They found it. "We haven't even begun to update 25 May chips yet!"
I asked them to update it and send it overnight. So, if we get it tomorrow, we'll be leaving for a month long trip Saturday. If not, I'll spend another $210 to get a new one at West Marine, and then I'll have two.
Problem #1 - Didn't send promised e-mail
Problem #2 - Didn't turn around in 1-2 days (8 business days, now)
Problem #3 - Very rude every time I call
I can't wait for them to charge me for the overnight mail - I'll fight that. I have a month to get back at them.
