Things need to change

Following as this 6 year old kid shooting is close to home.

I coached 6 year old's in T Ball many years ago. I was not aware they did not keep score, nobody won the game, everyone got a trophy in the end. Some of them should not have been on the field, period, they sucked. Some were the next Bryce Harper. I was askd to come back the next year, No Thank You.

In spite of us old timers continuously professing that the end is near, that future generations are doomed, somehow as a country/society we're healthier, more productive, better educated and more capable to deal with "life" than we've ever been in history.

Y'all need to turn off the TV :) You are the media you choose to consume....

I have not watched live TV in a few years. Not a sports fan at all and got rid of my cable probably eight years ago. I might turn on the TV and watch Hulu or Netflix for an hour a day.

I do have a TV antenna on top of my house, but it has been a long time since I actually watched ABC, CBS etc. As far as live local news, it has been a few decades since I watched any kind of news on TV.

Starting in the spring, I am outside working from five in the morning until 6:00 or so. Still stay outside, playing, working in my yard/garden or walking around the neighborhood until the sun goes down.

There is very little worth watching on TV anymore. I do pretty much the same get up around 5, get home from work and go tinker in my shop taking little breaks to browse the net. Got rid of cable in 2011 we get about 15 channels with the OTA antenna. I still like shows like the Rifleman, gunsmoke and old westerns.

As to the 6 year old who shot his teacher--

In WA (and probably most other states) a child under the age of 8 is presumed innocent because they do not have the mental capacity to determine if their act is a crime. Children between 8 and 12 there is no presumption of innocence made. Children over the age of 12 are presumed to know that their actions may be criminal in nature.

With that 6 year old, his parents should be hung.

I hope you’re right, mom bought the gun legally. There’s not mush the can do to this child nd that is what it is.

And THAT is why you are MrHappy! I see these old guys at the bar, miserable as fark. Bitching about everything all day. They spend their day/night consuming every program on Fox News.

I am also currently watching the Virginian. Downloaded all nine seasons for Plex. In the middle of season 2 right now. Gunsmoke was awesome in it's day, although I only ever saw reruns. The Rifleman too, loved how he flipped that 30-30 around to reload.

I forgot about the Virginian. Ive only seen reruns as well. Did you notice the rifle has a screw in the trigger guard to activate the trigger when it is cocked. It was also an 1892 Winchester that did not come out till a decade after the show was depicted (1880s). Funny when that show was first run it was depicted about a time that was about the same amount of time passed as the first run is to today.

Never new about the screw in the trigger guard, that was the Riffleman right? Yeah almost the same amount of time. I feel older now ... I only ever saw reruns as well. Although I could have seen the later years of Gunsmoke (20 yr run from55) and the last year or two of the Virginian (9yr run from 62).

Don't forget.

One of my best memories was getting to fly an old King Air plane. Right seat but still a blast.

I can tell you now. I have that Winchester 30-30 up on the wall. How the hell he could spin the heavy but beautiful gun, I have no idea.

Me either, but Chuck Connors did it on the RiffleMan. Or at least the magic of tv made it happen.
