We are planing a summer vacation, and would like some info on good marinas in the upper part of Green Bay. We have traveled to Fish Creek and Egg Harbor. Is there a good marina on Washington Island? How about Little or Big Bay De Noc?

Advice is appreciated.

Solvation, I bet you can give me some advice.

There are 3 marinas on Washington Island: Jackson Harbor, Kaps Marina and Shipyard Island Marina. We have stayed at Jackson Harbor multiple times and only visited the other two. Jackson is an old fishing harbor that is quiet and cheap to stay at, we love it up there. I believe that Shipyard is a full service marina and Kaps has a few docks with fuel. All of the Washington Island marinas are small and a little hazardous to get into so follow your chartplotter and the marked channels. Escanaba and Cedar River have nice marinas. Escanaba is downtown with a nice park around it, Cedar River has a gas station and a restaurant nearby.

Escanaba, Michigan . . . It is North of Washington Island by about 24 miles and is just about as far North as you can get on the Bay of Green Bay.

Escanaba's Marina is awesome, with great facilities, a fun escape for transients. Marina is full-service with a total of 165 boat slips with designated seasonal and transient berthing. Vessels berthed in the marina are surrounded by a beautiful park setting with access to one of the finest cruising and fishing areas on the Great Lakes. Marina: N 45° 44' 34" / W 87° 02' 05"

Escanaba, Michigan has their Sesquicentennial (150) Celebration and is scheduled for July 5th through the 13th. Special events and activities will be scheduled throughout the week. Link: http://esky150.org/celebration/index.html

East of Escanaba by about 20 miles is the Historic Townsite of Fayette. This old iron-smelting community is now a ghost town located in the Garden Peninsula at Snail Shell Harbor. All operated by the State and is a great trip for the young and old! Marina: 45° 43' 18" N / 86° 40' 15" W: http://www.exploringthenorth.com/fayette/town.html

Have fun!

There is the gladstoneyacht club also on little bay de noc www.g-y-c.org.there is a write up in great lakes scuttlebutt this month about the club .was built in 1940.

don't forget Sister Bay, great marina, and Peninsula park's Nicolet bay & horseshoe island. A good place for dinner / sunset is Fred & Fuzzy's in Little Sister Bay. If you like Jimmy Buffet and sunsets this should be on your list.
