The wife and I are thinking of stopping there for 2 nights on our way back from FL after visiting in-laws for xmas.

I have always heard good things, but not sure what to do there (shop, drink, eat)?

Worth the stop?

Any recommendations?

Cheers,
TDS

You can tour a WWII aircraft carrier at Patriots Point. That’s fun. Lots of great restaurants downtown. You can do a self guided walking tour downtown. There’s an aquarium. Several old and famous plantations that do tours.

Walk down the dock at the city marina - used to be huge boats there. As I understand a frequent fuel stop for large boats. Not sure about this time of year.

Contrast that marina with Patriots Point where the WWII aircraft carrier tour is. Huge marina on the other river.

Very nice downtown.

I would definitely stop. We stayed 2 nights there and this is what we enjoyed

- Charleston City Market
- Carriage Ride Tour was informative
- Lot of cool galleries if that's your thing
- Our hotel, The Vendue, had a very active rooftop bar
- Good restaurants and bars
