    SR Navigator issues

Felix is a great guy. You may want to ask him about upgrading to the type III. The type III required a bigger hole in the dash and some re-wiring but they are compatible with the array and the sounder module. Much faster, more memory, brighter, better touch screen and quite responsive. Much less...

    SR Navigator issues

By far the least expensive alternative. They will replace with solid state drives and the lattest charts. The system is a bit faster and you don't have to replace your array. If Brunswick pays better yet.

    SR Navigator issues

Here is your issue with the C120. The SeRay Nav uses a proprietary Radar array from KODAN that is not compatible with any other chart plotter. You will need to replace the radar array along with the chart plotter or go without radar.

    420 DA - New AGM's - 11 Volts?

It is pretty common knowledge around here that the 450 and 450CE weak points are the alternators and the sherwood water pumps. I replaced both alternators on my 04 420DA within a couple weeks of each other. One theory was that the alternators were not beefy enough to handle the pre heater coils...

    QSM 11 - seawater leak

Thanks Gary, I am at the boat working, (taking a nap), had a look at the hose that delivers water to the dripless shaft. Port - non leaking - looks nice and clean. Starboard- leaking- looks like the hose in your picture. Green and corroded. I bet that is it. Yes the material on top of the...

    QSM 11 - seawater leak

Trying to locate the source of a seawater leak. Started out looking for the source of loose rust in the bilge / starboard motor. Rust source was so close it could have bit me. Turbo housing was rusted and pitted as shown in photo. I believe this engine has a dry exhaust manifold. That being true...

Considering pre-owned 48 DA in Destin, advice?

I asked around about that boat. Evidently the boat was run aground. The grounding wrecked the running gear dislodged the shafts and the engine room partially filled with water. I am told there is an offer of $425,000 that has not been a accepted.

Considering pre-owned 48 DA in Destin, advice?

National Liquidators has so many boats that have been bank repo'ed they can't give them away. The So. Florida boat sales mkt is in a shambles. There are more used boats for sale then houses. The banks want these boats off their books. My friend / broker was over at National Liquidators the other...

    Sea Ray Navigator

Not necessarily true. I owned a 04 420da with the nav1 a pathfinder array connected to an rl80crc. Both original factory install I swapped out the navigator 1 for an e120. The array was not compatible without a factory installed upgrade. A simple check of your pathfinder array serial number on...

    Sea Ray Navigator

Check the raymarine site. As I recall there are three levels of compatibility with the old pathfinder, (RL90), arrays and the C120/E120. 1. Not compatible 2. Compatible with a factory upgrade 3. Compatible

    Bahamas Trip Planning

Watch the sea conditions. The 280 has a limited range. I made the run from Ft Lauderdale to Bimini several years ago in a 280 w/ twin 4.3s. Conditions were rough. We arrived beat up and on fumes.

    Water leak on bridge

Attached is an IR photo of the swim platform on my previous boat - Jan 06. Note the water intrusion through the rub rail screw. I removed this screw and two or three on either side. Caulked with silicone and re-installed. The boat was again surveyed in June 08 by the same surveyor same...

Not the whole moving from a Cruiser to a Sedan discussion again

We made the move from a 42DA to a 500DB in July. Our decision was driven by the way we boat. We used to load up with beer and snacks, throw off the lines and burn some diesel for an afternoon, a weekend or slightly more. The dancer was an ideal platform, easy to single hand, easy to grab a...

    Prop shaft broke...replacement issues?

Same thing happened to a new 34DA that was cruising with us last month. 60 ft of water, nothing to hit, two clunks and the shaft shears off like it was cut with an electric hacksaw just aft of the strut. The first clunk was the break the second was the prop hitting the tunnel. The owner was...

AC fails - HI PS only when underway

Well here is the latest - sea trial today with my mechanic. He installed clear tubing and watched while underway. He clearly saw big slugs of air as I ran over any disturbed water. His diagnosis: design defect, his recommendation: Install a more aggressive scoop. We are making plans now to haul...
