Doesn't even look real. Looks like you must spend 5 hours working on that boat for every 1 hour on the water!

I was playing with a new camera so i took a pic after i covered the steering wheel with leather and put a new center cap on it

I'm glad you didn't let her go. She's one sweet ride. Keep up the hard work she looks great!

Man , I love my boat, but there's something about yours. The "IT" factor I suppose. Once again, you get an atta-boy for that beauty. DAN

I have a 1988' Sundancer. I have the 7.4L Mercruiser option for the engine package.

I love the thing but blew the outdrive as discussed on another thread.

I am sure there are 268DA owners out there who also blew their outdrives and had to change their gear ratios because the original 1:32 gear ratio outdrive was so hard to get as a replacement. (you are stuck with a 1:47 or 1:50)

Rather than play 'change the prop' for several weekends has anyone else gone to a 1:47 or 1:50 stern unit as a replacement on this boat? If so, what prop ended up working best?

Factory prop was 15.25x15. Suggested ideas range from going up one or two pitch levels (to 16" or 17") and going down one inch in diameter (14"x?)

Thanks!

I blew mine out but the Insurance co. gave me more than I payed for it because they said I should put in a brand new one so I couldn't pass up the amount of money they gave me i sold the boat to the mechanic that was going to fix it. Did you turn yours in to your insurance co. I was looking at SEI they have new ones for a good price. I did find one later on Craigs list after I sold the boatffor $300 with the 1:32 gear.

Yes, but they only offer a 1.47 drive. in fact, everyone only offers a 1.47 drive because they won't warrant a 1.32 drive due to the fact the big block engines tear them up if they are not babied.

The case was damaged on my old drive so I would need to buy a used one and have it rebuilt or buy a new one and swap the gears.

I talked to 2 mechanics and they will rebuild if I get the case and gears but not warrant it because of the hp/fragile drive issue. SEI will sell me a drive but not warrant it with the 7.4L hooked to it. lol

I've heard that rebuilding is so specialized and difficult that going new is much better.

So with no 1.32 availability i am going with a 1.47 outdrive and play the 'which prop works best game'.
