260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

Transom door with the sleeves works fine for us.

Just bought a Newport Magma for our 260 DA and having a dilemma on the best way to mount it. Seems like the transom storage door is the best option. Magma sells dual mounting brackets that mount the grill very close (too close in my opinion to the boat) They also have plastic sleeves that need to be used to adapt to the 7/8 rail that seems like it could be a headache. I found these mounts on grillamount.com that look awesome although $100 more. Has anyone used these mounts or have any other suggestions. Thanks

I have mine mounted the same way and it works great.

I have the grill mounts from grillmount.com.................. they work great, but don't have the Magma grill. I used to make a table mount for the transom door handle. So far so good. There are photos posted two or three comments below this one.

Any Long Island (further if you're adventurous) 260 families interested in a Great Gun - Moriches Bay "Rendezvous" this summer?

I'm using the Grillamount from grillamount.com on my '07 260 with my Newport Magma grill. I can't say enough good things about it. I hook it over the hand rail of the back compartment so it sits over the swim deck. One piece stays mounted to the grill the other folds up and i store it in the grill when under way. Its insanely well built, very, very secure and I'm glad I opted for that over a fishing rod holder.

getting water in mid bilge after rain but is dry until i take boat out then rug is wet and the water appears in mid bilge. driving me nuts has anybody had this problem and what can i do to fix.

Haven't had wet rug problem, but take a water hose and check your port hole windows. During a hard rain on the lake a month ago, I noticed water running in a couple of windows. It will come in and follow the curvature of the hull. I took a toothbrush and some cleaner, cleaned the port hole gaskets on the inside, and tightened the dogs that put pressure against the window to hold it against the gasket. There are small plastic pieces that you can tighten on each dog to hold it tighter. Be careful not to over tighten. Another place water can come from in here is if your shower sump if it is overflowing. There are about a million places for water to get in here. Lots of threads on here where people are getting wet carpet. The carpet runs down into this area and wicks the water up. Search on here and you can get many ideas where to look.

It may be indicative of water leaking in the side port windows based on my own experience. I think water gets trapped somewhere in the hull until the boat is run on the water and the bow comes up on acceleration. The water then must run out.

I found this out my self in a slightly different way. I had my boat stored outside for a few weeks ( I normally keep my boat under a covered dock) and had tightened down the side port windows after noticing the wet carpeting at the bottom of the stairs. After drying this out and after the boat experienced a rain storm, the carpet was still dry. But as soon as they picked it up with the fork lift and the bow was elevated, the carpet got wet again (hence my theory of trapped water).

i took out panels in head vanity and found water coming in though window.the seal must be broke frame to hull.the water runs down inside hull and collects in a 10 ft void toward rear and doesnt come foward until you come off throttle then water comes forward and fills mid bilge and goes under shower where it then soaks rug.i guess i will be pulling out window to reseal

noticed that seal around outside head port window had bad factory caulking job could see open areas and fit wasnt tight.i taped off and shot thin thin bead of clear silicon and water tested and no more leaks.going to do the other 3 just to be safe easy fix thank god i didnt have to take port out to reseal.

Hi everybody,

I've been scanning through this thread from the beginning since I purchased my Sea Ray Sundancer 260, and figured I'd just thank you all for everything I've learnt and all the great advices etc. Also adding some pictures! It's a fantastic boat, I've owned it for a month, and have had a great time (not without engine problems though but let's focus on the positive things for now). Anyways it's my first Sea Ray and I love it! Here goes:

Delivery...

Cockpit layout of this boat, the C70 navigator is taking alot of space as you can see but on the up-side it's very accessible while driving especially when standing up.

The boat also arrived with a few thousands new friends... Looks like boating wont be too different from owning a forest house for me?

I'll be spending alot of time at the gas station for sure. Also in this picture is the flag pole + flag I mounted pretty much immediately upon arrival, wasn't too hard, just measure and drill a hole. I did however put very large bricks under the bolts because I predict my passengers will use that pole also as a rail... (if you want pole measurements/sizes etc just ask here)

Cloudy day at a guest harbour about 5 minutes outside of Stockholm city.

I had the same issue twice. Sea Ray came out and looked both times and could not find anything wrong.
