Looks nice, I love your windows, do you install a Limo window film or is it a window screen per window?
it looks very modern.

FeLiz, a PO had installed a window film on the inside. Thanks on the compliment. The color scheme sets it apart nicely. Folks have a hard time believing the age of the boat when I tell them.

After a family reunion, the infinity carpet color winner was:
Basket Weave 1415 HD, Color #1
I haven't received the delivery yet, but already have the templates ready, I went directly with infinity dealer in florida, I order 120 sf and the cost was $ 920, I am thinking of cutting it and go to a shop here in hialeah, miami, to to the border or binding

I am thinking of upgrading my carpet with Infinity as well. Will 120 sf cover the stairs and bridge as well as the cockpit?

Infinity comes in 8.5' and 10' widths. You'll need the 10' width for the bridge as it is about a 9' x 9' area. The cockpit area is about 7' x 11'. I bought a 20 foot roll of the 10 foot width (200 sq feet) to do the bridge, the steps and the cockpit. There are some awkward size pieces left over, but enough to do the bridge steps a second time if you screw up the first time, and enough to cut out some pieces for the head floors.

Excellent. Thank you very much!

Am I correct that the Infinity carpet is manufactured with a backing, or do I need to source backing as well?

There are two backings to choose from. One is the standard backing (they call it CC) and a thicker backing that they call HD. For removable carpet installations you should get the HD backing.

Found a pic. Posting it just because.

Very Nice! We've considered painting the hull, but these are the first pictures. Looks great!

How long has the hull been painted? Any maintenance issues with the paint itself? Any difficulty keeping it looking good?

Thanks in advance. Beautiful boat!

Have any of you added KVH and kept your Glomex antenna? I am trying to figure out how/where best to mount a KVH, but I want to keep the Glomex for local stations when I am out of my DirectTV local channel cone. I have seen KVH on our boat but those I saw mounted it in place of the Glomex.

I don't have any first hand experience with keeping both active. I replaced my Glomex with a KVH M3 unit.

However, I have seen pictures of a custom modification where somebody mounted the SAT Dome above the radar. The radar arch extension (4' Aluminum) was retrofitted with a tall vertical pipe, and mount for the KVH Dish. It was a little funky looking, and *may* add some added weight stress on the arch....

On a side note, are you traveling far enough where you need to pick up a signal from a different satellite? How does DirectTV know when you are outside your local area?

Nothing related to the engine. However, I do hear a "snap" or pop when using my windless. Any time I disengage the up or down position, I hear it through the stereo speakers.

In the way-back machine, guys would replace resistive-core with solid-core spark plug wires, *thinking* this would give a hotter spark, and better performance. However the only changes was engine interference and RPM static from the engine. Does the sound change with engine RPM?

I have DirectTV at home and will register the KVH as another home receiver. I will be living on the boat for a few months in southern Florida, which is about 400 miles away. I assume this will put me outside my local "cone". I am still reaching and learning on this, but if I can figure out how to reprogram the receiver for the new local "cone", then I won't need the Glomex for that. However, we will only have one of three TVs connected to the KVH. So one of us could watch local TV on a second TV if I still have the Glomex.

Bill,

As far as I know, you shouldn’t feel a difference in your channels. When you setup DTV box at your homeport, it will receive the same channels when you move your boat in FL. When my boat is in remote location, as long as the dish gets the fix on the satellite signal, I get all of my channels, including local. The trick is that in the setup steps for the receiver, you enter your zipcode. It uses your zip to deliver your local broadcast.

Alex, I have deduced that by federal law, DirectTV/DISH can only provide local stations to the local geographic market. They use spot beam technology to do this. Your spot beam must be really large (I think it is for NY per this: http://forums.solidsignal.com/content.php/1948-How-much-area-is-covered-by-a-spot-beam ), or you fit into the last sentence below. Once you move your receiver outside the spot beam area, you lose the stations and the provider legally cannot switch you to another spot beam. I got this from the DirectTV Q&A page:

Under federal law, we can provide local channels only within a local television market. For example, we can provide San Francisco stations only in San Francisco and the surrounding areas. Federal law requires us to respect the local TV markets boundaries, which are established by Nielsen Media Research. Distant broadcast network feeds from New York and Los Angeles are available only to customers who cannot receive an over-the-air signal from a local TV station and to customers who get waivers from their local TV stations.

This concurs with my experience as well. My boat has been 1,000 miles north of my residence for the past two years. I can program my DTV box any way I like, but am always unable to receive my local networks. I can receive all of my other programming that is linked to my account at my residence.

I noticed in your pic that the Glomex is gone and the M3 is in its place. What do you do to receive CBS, ABC, FOX, CW, NBC, etc?

All I can tell you is that as of last winter we were watching NYC tri-state are local channels while sitting on our boat in FTL. I just asked my wife and she said that 100% she remembers watching our local weather here, while we were stuck in FL due to a snow storm.

It's the starboard side that's the problem. How exactly are you sliding in and out your starboard belt guard? From the top or the side?

I do not have synch.

Bill, Back in May you were asking about how I get the starboard side belt guard out and I really couldn't say because it easily comes out and I never thought about it.
I had to take them off yesterday to adjust the valve lash, so this time I paid attention. Starboard side, rotate it 90 degrees and it slides out under the extinguisher bottle.
Port side just lift it straight out. If that doesn't happen, you must have something mounted on the bulkhead differently.
