Any insight on this repair is appreciated...

Found the leaks...see below pictures. Not sure the ram seals leaked prior to adding air. Although the floor under the steering rack has always been a little nasty and hard to keep clean. I guess I could remove the air from the system, refill with steering fluid and see how far that gets me... but in my constant drive to improve the boat back to like new condition...here I sit. Trying to figure out if I can replace these seals myself or better yet hire a proffessional.

Some folks suggested once they start leaking it is because the ram is scored although mine looks and feels smooth and clean as new.

The complete seal kit and price is...
SeaStar Solutions HS5180 - Seal Kit - PS CYL HC5805/07/09 $80

A complete rebuilt unit is...
Power Steering Cylinder HC5801-2 / PSC200-9

$2,223.00

Did you send them your hydraulic Ram to rebuild?
They did my helm pump. A buddy of mine had them rebuild his ram, they even send you a vacuum pump kit to use for bleeding and then you send it back (tool rental) very cool.

I know this has been discussed I searched but can’t find the post I was look8ng for
My bridge fridge Norcold DE 0040 has committed suicide so now I need a replacement. I thought it was Jeremy that put drawers in its place I like that idea so nothing spills out underway any model info is appreciated also pics. thanks in advance.

It was me. Post #711 has some pics. It was nice to have the drawer up there this summer. Much easier to get drinks out of. Isotherm Drawer 49

Joe,

I ordered a Vitrifrigo DW51IXD4-F-2. which is a drawer unit. Ordered in late October. I was just told it’s delayed until February! It was bad enough that the original date was sometime in January... Friggin Covid strikes again!

I’ll look up that unit also you haven’t been much help to me lately Steve,
Hahahaha
Actually the opposite.....
I know there’s a lot of bad opinions on the norcold units but this one lasted 15 years can’t complain about that. I do have a vitrifrigo ice maker I love so we’ll see.

Mac:
Took the door off today. Followed your advice of removing the top Trim, which is double faced taped and caulked in place. Then unscrewed the Top Track. My son and I easily leaned the door out from there and removed it.

I had several issues going on...

  1. The trucks needed some TLC and rust preventer.
  2. The Rod that ties to the Door Handle and catches the Door Stop when fully opened was stripped and brackets are bent.
  3. Will contact Taylor Made tomorrow and try to get a new Rod and the screw on Bronze/Brass end.
Put the door back together without the top trim for now. I might try Velcro to secure the Top Trim for future door maintenance.

The door rolls much smother now and is properly aligned.

Finally received the new rod and stop from Taylor Made, it took a couple months. Door rolls much better and lock mechanism works as it should.

Did they charge you an arm and a leg?

I think they wanted like $3600 for a sliding door lock set.

Wasn't too bad. $125.00 I only needed the rod with a threaded end and bronze cap that is used at the top of the door to catch the stop in the track. Definitely a fiddly repair but my son and I understand that door now...

At Taylor Made, Brian Albecht (518) 773-9310 was very helpful although, I had to push him to make the part for me.

Thinking of changing out the stock stereo system. Looking at the fusion 770. Since the speakers in the salon are Bose, do I need to change all of those speakers and wiring as well?

The Bose system in the salon and forward stateroom are separate from the stereo on the bridge. We also have two additional Bose speakers connected to the salon surround sound in the cockpit ceiling.
The previous owner of our boat replaced the clarion stereo on the bridge with a fusion stereo, new JL speakers on the bridge& cockpit, new bridge JL sub and new amps.. The fusion stereo is also connected to the bridge TV via an A/B switch so we can play the audio from the bridge TV thru the Fusion stereo. We are very happy with the set up.
CMI electronics in Lindenhurst did the installation

Thanks Gary. I didn't realize it was two separate systems. Not picking the boat up until the spring.. Left her in Maryland for the winter, and I can't remember the details of all the systems. Seems like your setup is the way to go.

What I did was add an Apollo 770 to the bridge for all audio on the bridge /cockpit
I also added an Apollo 400 to the salon and ran rca wires to the input on the Bose system. Both apollo’s connect via partybus mode so I can stream to either one and have the music on the bridge/cockpit/ salon /forward stateroom.

Do the 2006 52's have a pull out couch/bed on the starboard side of the salon? Anyone know who made those? I'd like to get one in our '05 500. Custom job from Sea Ray? I'm open to ideas.

Thank you. So you can run RCA to the bose system. Great! Exactly what I was looking for! I did not want to try and run all new speaker cables throughout the salon and stateroom. I like the way yours our connected so you can use either unit.

They were optional from sea ray in 05. I have a pull out sofa in mine.
