Running ABP (ad block pro) on PC in Firefox blocks all ads: CSR and AdSense. I don't expect the average user to adjust (or want to) their settings to enable just CSR ads.

I wonder if that makes a diff? I've hated iOS11 on my ipad so I've resisted upgrading my phone...
On my desktop and laptop I use Chrome with "Ad Block Plus"... no spammy ads. No blank spots.. Just the normal Marine banner ads from CSR sponsors.
Using Firefox or IE I got spam ads... I guess Ad Block Plus works pretty well.
I tried Chrome once but just couldn't get the hang of it for some reason...
So now I'm wondering which of our advertisers owns this ad

Actually, that ad is generated/selected for YOUR computer from YOUR browser history via tracking cookies.
Agree somewhat but at one time it was understood that by sponsoring the site, you wouldn’t see them. I guess that’s not the case anymore. This probably explains why the majority of the members complaining on this thread are paying members/sponsors of this site. Ironically, not the OP however.Honestly, the ads that I see are few and far between. I simply ignore them and read what I want to read. Unfortunately it is the way of the World Wide Web and will only be more prevalent.
