Oh no. How sad to see such a thing......... My guess would be the oversize tires and high center of gravity of the truck made it unstable to begin with....then maybe a steering over-correction?

1/2 ton, short wheelbase on top of the issues you cited, pulling a tandem trailer, not good. MM

This is like 3 miles from my home. the local roads were a mess last night.

How about the driver can't drive???? To fast ??? could not stop in time?

diesel fuel is leaking from the boat and because of its position<<<<<<<<<<<< From that boat??

And there's the answer to the thread about do thin consider your boat big. "the large boat"

I thought the same thing when I saw the pickup. If the boat was loaded aft heavy the truck may not have been able to handle the ensuing fish tail.:wow:
Before anyone cry’s foul or conjecture, these are only opinions and not investigative results.
Oh yes it’s “IMHO”.:lol::lol::lol:

It does look like a lot of boat for that size truck but that's is just my opinion too. Hopefully everyone is OK. Boat insurance will take care of the rest.

Could not happen at a better time.. end of season... all winter to find another one...

if you really zoom in it's a 3/4 ton std wheel base
but the oversize tires probably didn't help the situation
very sad

If you zoom in close you can see the dead deer on the road. Apparently he tried to dodge it and the boat fish tailed and the back end struck the deer and resulted in what we see. I feel sorry for the deer!

Closer inspection indicates you are right on the length, but what in the photo clues you to think it is a 3/4 ton? I have had several lifted trucks and never did they tow anything well. Most lifted trucks are just raised the cheapest way possible to stick big tires on, no thought is given to handling. Saw a nice lifted Jeep yesterday, the camber was unbelievable. MM

big hub centercaps and on extreme close up appears to have 8 lugs

Either that boat is single engine and extremely light or that is not near enough trailer for it. Do you think he had the rear strapped to the trailer? Another one of those " I think my boat is heavy enough that it don't need no stinkin rear straps"! I see that all the time around here. 60-70 mph on I-4 with no aft straps.....amazing. I wonder if he even has insurance on the boat. I zoomed in and still can't tell if it's 3/4 or 1/2 ton, still I don't think it has enough braking or control to be pulling with those tires and lift. Either way it still was a bad day :(

I would like to see the hitch to see what is twisted.

Everyones in a hurry. Just slow down.

Slowing down in approprate situations is good driving, having proper equipment to tow your load at the speed of the traffic on the roads you choose to use is the right thing to do. From some of the comments I have seen here such as, " I only tow 10 miles twice a year. Brakes? Brakes? I don't need no stinkin brakes." I wonder how many here are unsafe? I see the junk trailers parked in the launch lot, many of them I wouldn't tow home without a load. MM
