Well this gets even stranger. Went to check the temperature sensors yesterday. Go down below, turn on the keys, hit the ignition breakers and the alarm goes off. Verified that the topside engine switches were in the off position. Still tested the sensors by unplugging each one and turning the keys off and on, but no joy. Just think I am going to wait for the marina to scan the engine codes to see what is up.
Well the plot thickens. Marina (authorized Mercury repair facility) scanned the engines and there are no error codes.
UPDATE... Solved! Turns out all along this was a low fuel alarm because I only had 24 gal in the port. Although the Mercury information says nothing about the alarm sounding for low fuel, the tech at the marina went into and deactivated the low fuel alarm in the engine system and the alarm went away! As soon as I put gas in I will have them reactivate it, though normally I would never be this low.
