Hello Everyone

I'm now the proud owner of a 1989 340 Sea Ray Express Cruiser. I've posted a few things in the last couple of months and I appreciate the info that you've shared.

The deal is closing and I will be looking to move the boat onto Lake Michigan. I'm planning to use it as a home away from home with my new job. I'll be staying aboard a few nights a week so that I don't have to do my 70 min commute. At least in the summer months that is. I'm really looking forward to the fringe benefits of having the boat available for Chicago fireworks, airshow, concerts and more this summer. It should be a lot of fun.

If you are in the Chicago area, let me know. I'd love to hook up with some fellow CSR owners for a drink or two sometime.

Thanks all. Looking forward to being a CSR regular.

Michael

PS. Free drink (on my boat if we can find each other on Lake Michigan) if anyone can give me the correct reference to the boat's new name - 'Ayn's Escape'

Congrats...looks real good.

Thanks all. What a fast bunch of responses. I can't tell you how happy I am to be a Sea Ray owner. This forum really influenced me to look at Sea Rays. I can tell that there is a great community of owners and particularly, the support of people buying older Sea Rays (like myself) was a big deal. The last thing that I wanted was to feel like a loser because I could not afford a 100k+ 2008 Sea Ray. I love the fact that owning an older, classic sea ray can actually be kind of cool. We all can't be as fortunate to own a six figure boat but it is cool to be part of a good group of people like this group.

Thanks all.
Michael

Congratulations on your new boat! She looks fantastic for her age.

Nice boat Michael  Welcome to the classic SR club!!!

The six figure part is no big deal! We ALL own boats in the six figure range! You just have to convert to the right currency! I'm partial to the old boats and love the styling and solid feel. Welcome to the hood!!

Your 89 340 Sundancer will take you to all the same places as the new ones will. You probably have a little more space in yours too.
I love my 87 300 Sundancer. It has provided some great memories for my kids.
You bought a real nice boat! Good luck with it.

Good luck with the new boat.

Yes, this is a good forum and my next boat will be a SR.

Great looking boat.... Congrats!!!

As for the forum,,, great group of guys as you will find out more day by day...

As I am a fan (wife says sucker) for older models (hence the older wife ) I run into a lot of things that need repair. These guys are always around to help out. Lot of knowledge here in this group.

Thanks to all!!! and Welcome to the newbie .

Congrats, great boat, they all take a little TLC. Best of luck!

Congrats on the new old boat. I too am a Chicago area boater only on the DesPlaines River instead of the big pond. There are several members at Lake Michigan marinas so where are you docking your boat? Staying on the boat to avoid the commute sounds like a most civilized solution for guys that work in the city.
