I am looking at picking up a used 08 185 sport soon. The boat only seems to have one issue. It has what looks like rust, cracks, and flaking in the ski locker. Is this something i should worry about or is the locker just a storage tub type thing?

It is not rust from the structure of the boat. It is probably organic. Maybe mildew. The cracks may be filler disintegrating and can be scraped out and redone with epoxy I would just check the drain to be sure it is solidly attached and there are no gaps between it and the pan. Be sure it drains too

The core wood is shot. It's called Tea Stains.... It's what comes out as the wood core rots... However, if this is the only area where it's seen and looks to be a problem the locker is not a structural part of the boat. But there may be more there than you can see GET THE SURVEY!

Wouldn't this area be all fiberglass? I wouldn't think they would take the time to form the ski locker out of wood and cover with fiberglass.

+1, I think the locker is all fiberglass.
Definately not structual damage though.... can you pull some of the flaked material back to see what it looks like?

It's not my boat so i don't want to damage it any further. But i tried to scrape some of it off with my finger nail and only saw white behind the chips.

The back of the locker has a crack in it where the bottom joins the rear wall. There is a wood core in there somewhere or you wouldn't see the tannin stains.

I suspect that this is an easy fix, but it will require grinding out the gelcoat to expose the wet wood. Only then can you decide how to repair the damage. It might be as easy as drying out the wood and re-glassing the area you ground out, or you might need to replace some of the wood.

I think it will be an easy fix also, but I also kinda want to offer less money beause of it.

The crack is on the side of the locker under the hinge not in the back by the fuel tank/engine.
