Our good friend’s 18 year old son was involved in a serious wreck last Friday. He lost control of his car and hit a wall while driving in heavy rain. Another person riding in the car pulled Madison out as the car as it caught fire and burnt. Madison’s intestines and soft organs were pushed up into his chest, liver is damaged and he lost one kidney and damaged the other. His spine, pelvis and both ankles and feet are broken.

Today he went on dialysis to help his remaining kidney. After spine surgery he is able to move his legs which the doctors are calling a miracle.

Maddy was to attend college this fall on a full athletic scholarship. In fact it is his great shape that allowed him to live according to the doctors. His great spirit is infectious and I’m sure will drive his recovery.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He is like our adopted son.

Tragic news to hear. I hope he makes a full recovery. I will pray for peace and healing.

Sorry to here about the accident. I am glad he survived and is a fighter. We don't think, sometimes, about how fast our lives can change. Prayers are up for this young man and his family.

Bill, we will keep Madison in our prayers.

Not to hijack but more to inspire your "adopted son", do yourself a favor and google a kid named Chad Jones from New Orleans. Very similar story, he got picked by the NY Giants to play pro ball, few weeks later almost lost his life in a single car crash.

Chad was a two sport athlete, Football and Baseball. Long story short, He worked his a$$ off to get back in shape for the nfl, but just couldn't get to 100%.

He now is on the Cinci Reds Roster and doing quite well.

Again, just trying to send some words of inspiration. NEVER GIVE UP!!!

That is tough news.

Thanks to you all.

Bruce, Maddy is the type to overcome and make the best of this. I remember the story of Chad Jones and you are correct that this mirrors his story. The blessing is that he can move his legs after surgery. Maddy was an inspiring individual prior to the wreck and he will be that way through his recovery. He is very much still in critical condition but every day looks better and better.

Bill, I was at NOLA Food Fest last weekend with The Wife and Chad came up to me and we spoke for a few minutes. He's feeling great and his family is doing as well. He's talking about buying a boat!!!!

Our prayers and hopes for a full recovery. Such a tragety. Best wishes for all.

So sorry to hear this. Thoughts & prayers for this young man & his family.
