Impeller Tool - Great

You don't need the impeller tool for the generator. If you have the Onan 3 banger located in the Port Aft portion of the engine room, the best way to change the impeller is to remove the water pump from the engine then take it up top and change the impeller. Very easy job. Remove the inlet and outlet hoses, then it is either 2 or 3 screws/bolts to remove pump. The impeller itself can be removed with pliers.

ok sounds good, thanks

This seems like a solution to a non problem to me. I change 6CTA impellers frequently for myself and several of my fellow boaters. Both the SMX splines version and the keyed Sherwood version. Some 2-4-c grease on the housing, shaft and impeller and it slides right in easily with one hand.

Don't you need to compress the vanes of the impeller before you slide in with one hand?

I do. I squeeze them all together and work them in with my fingers as I push the impeller in. Usually a few don’t get in first shot, then I just bend them in. Just takes a few seconds.

I'm going to give this a try in May. I usually strap the vanes down with zip ties and its still a struggle. I have some 2-4-C in the tool box so Ill apply some and then go for it.

I had a heck of a time getting the impeller replaced on my QSB 6.7. The vanes were very hard to fit in. Took several hours. This tool would have been a Godsend.

i changed it please let me know if its still private...txs
