This is a crazy thread. What has happened in the past that you need that kind of weapon? There must have been some serious attacks of a great fear of being attacked, which is it?

Wow, all you guys that "always" carry a gun? Ever thought of just moving to a nicer neighborhood?
LOL

You must not watch the evening news!
So it's a fear thing . No first hand account of actually being attacked?

BTW - I have to agree that the weapon pictured here is very well done. I just don't see the need,
Second time was at our marina when a group of us asked a boater to come off plane while in the marina, he went off on me, he was drunk, his wife was on him hard, and I was his target. The whole time he was in my face, my hand was on a 9mm. He backed off, I never pulled the gun. I saw no need until he hit me. The two off duty buddies there asked later why I took the berateing, knowing full well. He wasn't worth the trouble, drunks never are.
You actually considered shooting an obnoxious drunk boater on the dock? View attachment 33559
Some years back, my doctor shot a guy dead in his house. Doc was sleeping with his wife and heard someone in the house. His door opened so he asked "who are you?". No reply equaled one shot and a dead criminal. My hero!Well I would not feel very comfortable - but I have yet to hear of an incident where it was actually necessary. Being prepared seems like fear. Maybe that is where society is at, we live in fear of the possibility.
I wonder how many people get broken into in the middle of the night where a gun made a difference. I guess the other side of this is however that the thieves know that it's a real possibility the home owner will have some heat, so stay away, or shoot first.
I am not trying to rib you guys on and pick a fight, I don't live there so I am just bewildered.
Scott - When you say a 'lifetime carry permit' Do you mean you can carry it like the police would carry it and take it everywhere with you?
Just make sure you don't forget you are carrying it when you pop over to Chicago, Scott! :smt001 I actually did one time!
Pulling this back into a knife fight.....
The knife displayed is meant to be art and function. To be sure this one is at the low end of custom one off knives at around 500usd. One off custom knives can and do fetch 1500usd to 11,000usd. You notice no engraving or bolsters on this one. Those run for 900usd to 2,500usd. Bone or precious stone and metals are used in special order knives.
When you research custom knives you will find some of them very cheap. That’s because, like painting prints, they are stamped out in a number of runs. The artist designs the knife then stamps copies of them. After numbering them he “breaks the stamp”.
Here’s a link to Jay Fishers site. A world class knife smith. I can only hope to be this good one day. This folding pocket knife goes for 5,800usd.

Hey Bill. Nice work. I did not know much about custom knives until I met Marvin Poole and his son. Marvin salvaged a Ka-Bar,for me, that was in pitiful shape. That knife is a testament to the time and craftsmanship of the trade to create custom works. When I last visited his shop he was working on a folding knife, what a job to make one of those!
As a matter of fact, I need to get back by and see how it turned out that is if it's not already gone. Best wishes for your hobby in the New Year!!
