My Sandy Story

Sorry for your loss Ron, we went through this last year at a total loss of our boat but after a while new boat shopping was fun ( and frustrating )

Ahhh, sorry to hear about the loss Ron.

What a shame.

I hope everything looks up soon for you.

Doug

Sorry to hear it ron.... everything happens for a reason. She's made for good memories and good times. There's always another boat for you to love and throw all your money at. Best of luck when you start looking.
Ps. Start looking soon spring is coming fast.

Ron,

Disappointing news and please add my thoughts along with the others. Even though you will receive monetary compensation for the loss of the boat you and your family are safe. You and I have communicated a lot about all the work we have done on our boats and while the compensation is good it doesn't replace all of the hours of joy and even frustration you had with her. I know this is very disheartening and whatever you do I know you will make a decision that works the best for you and the family.

My in-laws went through this same thing in New Orleans with Katrina and my Brother-in-law's 21' center console was found 3 months after the storm in a tree about a mile from the marina it was in. Insurance had already declared the boat a loss since they had no idea where it was. And even though Katrina was about as bad as it gets and you never wish that type of event on anyone you kind of expect that in the Gulf Coast....but not in New Jersey. For those of us on the West Coast we can only imagine what everyone in the area must be experiencing.

You and I have talked a couple of times that we are boaters and not people that own a boat. You're a boater and I know when the time is right you will have another. You told me when I left the Forum that I would be back and so will you. You will lurk but please let everyone know what's going on. Remember, you're a boater. I will send you an email later this week.

Meanwhile....Keep Rockin'.
Shawn

Ron,

Sorry to hear about your loss. Try to keep tour chin up as that is what insurance is for. If you get back to boating hopefully you will find something better. Still waiting for my insurance guy to look at my boat.

My heart sunk last night when you and I spoke. Its funny that these stupid pieces of fiberglass turn into quasi family members... and, unless your a boater, you just dont "get it"... Your kids grow up on them, you make friends on them, you make memories with them...hell, you even talk to them! thats why its so sad.

however, as some others have said, there is a glimmer of sun & hope when you begin the process of searching for the next family member... I better get an invite when you start seriously looking, since the last friend I helped ended up buying a boat in florida! I have a pretty good track record. Take care bro! see ya at the next gig!

Thanks again everyone for all the well-wishes and condolences! Nice to know people care. Mark, you came to see my boat with me before I closed the deal and gave her the stamp of approval. You were also there for the "Renaming" ceremony, which we did perfectly and in accordance with protocol as set out by King Neptune.A lot of good that did!

(Notice the "Mitch" kids and James' Fred Flintsone feet!!)

First pic ever snapped of the boat - Tices Shoal, the weekend after we closed on her.

Ok, now I'm really getting fa-klempt... ;-)

Sorry Ron, I could only find one pic of you underway that I was able to capture. All the rest was a tiny spec way back in the distance. This one was right when we started so we hadn't pulled away too far yet.

Mike, thanks for the buzz kill. Thought we were all gonna start singing Kumbaya!

I wonder if joe is gunna go to block this summer. I think he said he was gunna start saving last summer. His words to my ears. Maybe ill let him leave 4 hours prior to me so I can catch him at montauk. And then when we get there I can tell him the stories his partner at work shares with me. Should be good

Atleast out of all this bs the storm caused there's always good people to bust chops and bring the fun out and have everybody laugh in the end

Ron, we've never met, but I felt the least I could do was to pick one of your photos and enhance it for posterity:

And we still had to wait 20min to say our goodbyes at jones in let not to mention the two stops in the middle of the atlantic I had to take to jump in the water to subside the hangover.

Since you made part of the Jersey Shore disappear, can you remove my ex-wife from some photos I have?
