New Site Update - Report problems here

No, thank you — I‘m not going to install third-party software to fix a problem that shouldn’t be there in the first place!!
You settle down…… do you want the ads to go away or not. Most of us have done it already months ago with no problems
I couldn't agree more with Jeff. I never needed an ad blocker before and I shouldn't need one now.
4 machine's all PC's, all Chrome, all have the ad's.
I will say, in CSR's defense, Jeff is not a sponsor.

since the change I cant connect to site 50% of the time I attempt. Sumting Wong must be running things. And before you ask, nothing has changed on my side. PC experience is not too bad. iPhone is really bad.

I testing things out, it seems HTTP has no adds, but HTTPS does.

The full width banners seem to be gone with both.

This is the main page for me. Nothing terrible.

Orlando,

As I have mentioned elsewhere, I have used Adblock Plus on my CPU (Originally for other sites not CSR). However because of the complaints I have shutoff Adblock for the CSR site for testing. All I get is a small banner ad across the top and along the side (top only that scrolls up) on either the HTTP or HTTPS version. So is it the site or an individuals CPU configuration? Using WIN10 and Chrome...

Oiy....things have been reallllllyyy slow on my PC for the last two days. Loading pages is taking forever at the moment. Something I definitely never experienced pre-update.

I had ads before.

When the upgrade was done, ad volume almost went to zero. I assumed that as part of the upgrade restrictions were put in place to limit or control ad placement.

Every day since the upgrade the ad volume has increased.

In the past I have quite visiting sites that were allowing uncontrolled ad placement ( my choice ).

This site I love and I want to be here. I will gladly go back to paying for a sponsorship if it reduced the ads. I used to purchase sponsorship at one of the fairly high levels. But I think the site needs to decide how they want to receive revenue.

A lot of what pops up on your computer is due to the Cookies that visiting sites install.
The simple use of Google as a search engine loads cookies.
At least once a month I clear the cookies and history. The issue with that is data for things you need like your bank account gets wiped out also and reloading for access is required.

My access has been lighting fast on both my CPU and iPhone...

Using a password manager helps with this, but of course, they come with their own set of risks.

With ad blocker off. I also deleted all of the browser history and cookies to test this. This is the main site:

For those that do not want to run AdBlock Plus, then ad's is what you will see I guess.

The only issue with AdBlock Plus I see so far, after almost a year of running it, is Amazon links tend to bring you a different page then what the link was to.

The above test is with the latest version of Chrome and no cookies or cached history. The first is without AdBlock Plus and the second is with.

EDIT: My android phone is working fine now, no adds even without an ad blocker.

One thing Orlando that I have as a residual from my business in order to do work with the Federal Gov is an approved virus software on our IT products. I'll have to admit that since we have been running ESET Internet Security that issues including pop-ups are minimal. We run AdBlock also. The base package is inexpensive and even though I've sold the business I'm still going to continue with that protection.
As an FYI - we started with a Norton then McAfee products and they drug our entire IT system to it's knees on speed. After we were able to clean that gum from our shoes we found ESET to be quite good.

anyone else having issues where it doesnt keep you logged in on an iPhone? it was actually happening prior to the upgrade as well. ..and yes, the checkbox for keep me logged in is checked.
Yes. Keeps logging me off on my iPhone.

Yeah Norton will stop anything in it's tracks, anything that you want to do that is.

Tom,
I have used ESET for years on my personal machines. It has been very good.
Work runs a different set of security choices but on either my speed is very good.

Steve
Yes. Keeps logging me off on my iPhone.
I access it through Safari and it does not log me off my iPhone XS.

I did notice that there is a Xenforo app. I haven't tried it yet.

My preference and vote.

Turn off ads at a forum level for subscribers who have an upgraded membership level and are paying.

If someone is using the forum for free, it is that users option if they want ads or want to deal with ad blockers.

I would immediately move to the pay model.

You can only say it so many times…. If they don’t want to hear a solution they never will
