Can't get but (one) channel sometimes, and sometimes at that:huh: on our new 19" T.V in the berth, (says on screen) WEAK SIGNAL/NO SIGNAL on all other channels, we just want the standard 2,4,5,7,9,11, and 13 channels,........No premium service.......

We have the old Glomax Antenna, would a new digital antenna give us what we want???

Any links to one would be appreciated :smt001

Thanks.....

Your Glomax should work fine. Is your Glomax box turned to full gain (I believe clockwise)? You also need to have the TV set for digital and have it scan for channels. You should get about 12 stations (give or take).

The old Glomex antenna will work.

Assuming you have purchased a TV with a digital tuner (make sure of this), others have reported problems with the coax cable ends that Sea Ray used during build. They screw onto the cable and after a few years of service come loose.

Also, the Glomex has an amplifier that has to be turned on.

The knob on the Glomex amp must be turned to the right and you should see a red light indicating it has power and is working. This control is sometimes located in a cabinet in the galley.

The breaker that powers the amp needs to be turned on (may be labeled Entertainment or somthing similar or may just be labeled Accessory).

Once you have all the Glomex stuff turned on, you have to have the TV scan for channels.

Thanks Rick.....ill check today.....

Also go to the menu on the tv and do an auto scan for the channels. We pick up 21channels. You might want to check the splitter, we had one that was old and did not pick up ralot of channels. We change it out with a new one for digital and reception is much better and for some reason we got more channels. We also have a glomex ant with the original amp from 1999.

Thanks all....did the auto scan and picked a few channels...just a few... not sure i did the scan right ...asked antenna or air???:huh:did not see anything about digital...just T.V.
aren't they both the same??? anyway i'll have to play with it more....about the splitter, where is that? and can i do it myself??? or call a tech?

Thanks.....

Bill,
Out here on the Island I think you will only get a few channels. I may be wrong but I only got a couple when it was analog. I think we are too far from the transmitters in NYC.

When you do the auto scan use the scan for antenna. We have two tv's on board. The original spliter was located at the amp so I just replaced it in the same spot. Line coming off the amp into the spliter marked in one line for each tv marked out. I picked up the spliter at Lowe's, the mfg is Ideal Package # 85-332 and is marked 2-Way Satellite Digital Cable Spliter - 5MHZ - 2.3 GHz. Even thou is says Satellite it works with the Glowmax Ant.

Assuming the TV is good, and the antenna is still good (could be shot - you'd have to look at it), the next likely suspect is the cable between.

Someone earlier mentioned that Sea Ray uses twist on cable ends - if so, they are junk. Might as well just put a coat hanger on the back for all the reliability you'd get. Have someone cut the cable back a few inches (assuming you have the slack for it) and put real cable ends on - compression connectors if they/you can get them.

Remember, the TV is only as good as the signal you feed it.

Your right, a few channels, but i'll do another scan as Connie suggests using setting antenna, i think i did it with the air setting...

i'll play with it again....Thanks all ........Bill

The cable is new, as far as the ends i'll have to take another look...thanks.....

Bill, Just wondering how you made out

Morning Connie,

We did the T.V. channel scan with the antenna setting, and we now have a grand total of

6 channels:grin:. better than before.....we watch little T.V. on board, but its sort of satisfying to know i can get the news and weather..and a few others.

Bill......

P.S. Everything else was ok.....cables etc.....
