Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Anyone know where I can get the small spring that goes to rope catch on the windlass for an 2003.5 340?

I got a 2003.5 340, I'm having issues with the starboard switchpad. The stereo button doesn't light up and the radio won't turn on. The light to cockpit button doesn't not light up but the cockpit lights work. I'm pretty sure I need a new switch. However before I dish out $440 for a new switchpad, I wanted to check the fuses on the fusebox under the helm. I know for a fact the previous owner messed with the fuses and didn't replace some of them with the correct amps. Does anyone have a schematic or pic of the fusebox with the correct fuses in their proper location. I checked the manual and it gives the amps for the EIM but there's noting about the fusebox. Thank you.

You should be able to download the user manual from Sea Ray and the electrical schematics are in there. Just make sure you get the right 2003 ;) If not the 2004 should be close enough.

Kevin,
Thanks for the response. The schematics are the same. Do the fuses on the fusebox coincide with DC panel in the cabin or the EIM?

I believe the Main DC breaker panel in the Engine Compartment feeds the EIMs, the Cabin DC Panel and various other devices. From there the EIMs feed the power selected from the keypads and the cabin DC panel feeds the power from the breakers to the noted devices.

Anyone ever change the heat exchanges - just wondering if this is a DIY type of job? They seem accessible and I prefer to do whatever maintenance I can on my own, but don't want to get in over my head. I have a 2005 with 8.1 engines and v-drives.

Anyone ever install a separate shower head and valve? I'd like to install some custom head so I didn't have to pull out the sink.

Never, but you have another one to look at right next to you. I think you can do it.

I did my own shortly after getting boat 4 years ago. Although I have out drives so they were like right there in front of me. Yours may just need cleaning as mine did. Drain the engine coolant, I saved mine as it was only 2 years old. Remove hoses and the ex changers easily unbolt. I took ends off of mine and soaked them in barnacle buster. They came very clean and my engine temps improved dramatically. I replaced the rubber gaskets on the ends. Took the better part of a day with the soaking time. I also used a drill with a paint mixer on it to agitate the barnacle buster in the bucket to help speed things along. You can also use muriatic acid, not sure of the concentration.

you might could install something like this and put a 'T' fitting in the existing water supply line for the water supply to this shower head....it is fully adjustable...

I’m sure I could find the answer online, but just thought I’d ask since we’re on topic. How do you go about draining the coolant? Do you just disconnect the inbound coolant hose on the exchanger and have a container ready?

Marc,

I replied personally but will post it here in case anyone else is interested:

I have not installed this yet - job was put on hold because for us it was going involve having a new countertop made and sink and we did not want to be without the shower.

The faucet we will use is an ITC Marine faucet with a separate shower head. We are planning on installing the shower head in the corner to easily pull up to the wall. While it would have been nice to go behind the wall I fell there was not enough access.

This is the faucet/shower head combo I purchased. I believe Sea Ray also used these on some of the newer models: https://amzn.to/2SPkZFm

Yes - at least that is how I did it. Noting, my engines are not installed backwards as yours are. So they were very easy to do this on.

Thanks. I got your reply. Lost track of things. The link doesn't work. I'm going to get in the boat this weekend to evaluate.

Vigilink is blocking these short amazon links. I see it in the button under their wayfair ad.

I've had to do mine a couple times - it is an easy job. I had the BIII so my engines were forward facing and the exchangers are right in the front. If I remember correctly I pulled the lower hose on the left side of the exchanger (when looking straight on at the exchanger in my configuration) and drained the coolant into a bucket - spilled very little this way. Undo the remaining hoses and the exchanger just pops out. Found a picture from one of the repairs.

Great, thanks to all for your advice. I hope to tackle this in April once it warms up a bit!
