I ordered a new gimbal bearing and bellows kit, and the tools to do the job + check the alignment. Also have a new impeller for the raw water pump, oil and filters. Along with the new dash faceplates in Black Stardust.. should keep me busy

I Had A Same Type of problem. Turned out it was some predrilled holes for the windshield. I had To Pull the Center ceiling liner to find while water Running or a Good rain. It looked like a predrilled hole that was not used. I guess As The windshield rubber aged it lost the seal it may had when new? Any ways not a hard fix once you find the hole.

Started replacing the dash fascia plates, got just about finished then discovered the remote for the new GME stereo was faulty, everything worked but no LED display, the store is organising a replacement 2017-11-15 16.41.34.jpg

finished off the dash install, and modified an engine stand I had to use as a outdrive trolley, so next day off I will get into it and see what the gimbal bearing and bellows look like

finally got back into working on the boat, gimbal bearing was a real pain in the ass to get out, but is out now, also have the u-joints out. The bellows doesn't appear to have any cracks so I assume the water got in there from the O ring seal to the exhaust on the outdrive?

I had a bunch of grease in my u-joint bellows from the u-joints and went a head and replaced the exhaust and u-joint bellows even though they didn't have holes in them. The gimbel bearing was bad so I replaced it wasn't hard to get out with the slide hammer.( thats #2)I also replaced the shift seal because it was leaking. Now I see the first outdrive has a leak some where so I will have to look at it again. Sometimes I do believe it will never end with this boat. If this keeps up I think I might sell it and look for something else, or stick with my little boat it has never given me trouble.

slide hammer wouldn't move mine at all, I ended up buying this kit https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mercrui...921301?hash=item3f793c18d5:g:yHAAAOSwpkFY4pSO and had so much force on the puller that I thought something would break, but it finally came out. Replaced the impeller in the raw water pump today, there a tight bugger to get in, I greased it up with rubber grease and put a cable tie around it to get it started. The old one hadn't lost any fins, but it was at least 3 yrs old that I know of, perhaps more so well due.

has anyone put a thru-hull fitting and sea water strainer to connect to the raw water pump, if so do you have any pics showing where you went thru the hull, mounted the strainer and ran the hoses?

    Cheers

Hi! I’m from Sweden and became a owner of a 2003 240DA last year - she was only in water for two weeks and then up for the long Swedish winter.
I’ve read every page in this thread and learned a lot.
I’m about to install a Wallas heater, but I can’t find any screws to remove the strb wall in the mid-berth. And how can I pull the hose for a valve in the v-berth were the stairs are?
I also have the Kiss hotplate and it looks never used. Should I change it to another stove, if they are dangerous to use?
I hope that someone here can tell me.
    (Sorry if there’s some Swenglish)
    - I have paste a picture, but when I save and post the picture is gone???

Congratulations on your new boat :)

I had a fire with the Kenyon Kiss gas hotplate and replaced it with one of there electric ones https://www.cookwithkenyon.com/product-category/cooktops/touch-controls/ you can get a service kit for the Kiss one that replaces the seal, but after having the fire I was put off them. I use the hot plate plugged into shore power, or a portable gas burner set up out the back if I'm on the hook. Kenyon did give me the replacement at half price after I emailed them explaining the fire I had.

I haven't taken the wall out in the mid berth, but did have to remove the section around the cabin door to fix the slider, the screws for that were hard to see as there sunken in to the carpet

Hi Yes Congrats on your new boat.I was in Copenhagen last summer and was amazed to see how many boats were there, in the canals Sail And Power..
I am not familiar with the Kenyon gas hotplate, but what I use is a small propane single burner stove and an electric Precision Induction Cooktop cost about $100.00 I have one at home and one on my boat.I also have a 3000 watt inverter with 3 group 27 batteries so I can run it on the hook or shore power. The little Propane single gas stove burner works great as well. Hope this helps

Here is the answer from Kenyon about the Kiss stove.

”We do not have a represenitive in the Sweden. But here are some options. We have a repair kit available for you Kiss series cook top. We also have a replacement option if you decide to change out you Kiss cook top. Please look into our website and the model depending on your voltage needs would be at our part number b61144 (120v) or the same equivalent b61145 (220v). The cooker is smaller in size than you Kiss cook top. We have adapted a stainless steel adapter plate to take on the size of your Kiss Cook top. We can offer you this combination cook top at 30% off list for a direct replacement.2nd option are the repair kit in which I have enclosed a booklet for your viewing. The price on the repair kit is $89.00 plus shipping. Please note that if you decide in the repair kit there is some maintenance required to keep your Kiss series cook top operating without issues. 1st is to place a drop of 30 sae oil onto the tip of the canister before insertion each time. 2nd is to always remove the fuel cell when you are done using the cook top to ensure that the seals stay lubricated. Failure to do this will break down the lubrication applied to the seals and create a gas leak some time in the future. Please let know what is best for you. The b23006 (kiss) was discontinued in 2012.”

similar reply to the one they sent me in 2016, except they offered me %50, perhaps I was a bit more descriptive in the email I sent them after the fire :) I chose the electric cooktop and adapter which is not hard to fit or wire in, and like Joelife have a portable gas burner as well. There reply follows.

I pulled my Kenyon kiss butane stove out and bought a portable butane stove. That way I can do my cooking topside when I want and keep the heat out of the cabin. It’s also nice to make my morning coffee on it topside and not wake the family. In the stoves place I had a sheet metal box made where I store bread, hotdog buns etc.

Neat thread. I bought a 240 Sundancer last June. I really enjoyed it. Plan on taking some longer trips on it this year.
