Official 330 Sundancer Thread

You need to tighten the screws labeled B in the picture. They are directly under the cover. The screws at the top and bottom of the arch on the throttles are the upper and lower stops.

My wife and I are looking to move up to a 380 and we're going to check out an '01 this weekend. Its a later one with 8.1s. My question concerns the very low hours. The boat only has 190 hours and the genny has less then 20. If the boat has been properly maintained, which it seems it has, should I be concerned?? BTW if anyone knows of someone looking for a very nice 330 I know of one for sale :)

Pretty much assume it will need elbows and impellers. Check all the hose clamps and hoses. Although it may not have many hours on it I wonder if those hours are all bunched at the new boat stage rather than evenly spread through its life. If its hardly been used in the last few years then the engine internals may not be as good as the hours might lead one to think. I am thinking surface rust on bores and valve stems, fuel system condition, batteries, etc.

Does it have the Horizon engines in it. I want to think that 99-00 was the water ingestion years. I wonder if the engines are new and thus the low hours. If so that is great as long as they addressed any water exhaust issues. Best of luck on the new boat adventure!

Hey guys. I recently purchased a 98 330DA with the 454 Horizons (380 hp each). What engine temp should I expect to see? The gauge has an upper limit of 220 degrees and it seems as if they are running north of 180. Does this seem normal? I have had the impellers recently replaced and water flows out the side exhaust as expected. I appreciate your thoughts

My central VAC went out. Anyone have replacement suggestions?

The System I have in my 1996 is as follows:

Stow-A-Vac System
Wall Vac model 440
Filter Bag 54062

The Stow-A-Vac System is still around however I do not see the same model number (Google Search).

Here is a pic of my dash at speed. I have the blue water merc 454s not horizons so yours may be different. Looks like about 175 or so.

My horizons run 162 starboard and 160 port depending on entering water temp they will get alittle warmer depending on how hard I'm running. When was the last time you checked your antifreeze level and also horizons have a 160 degree thermostat so to see a 10 to 15 degree temp difference is normal

Mine run just under the 170 mark.

Thanks for the responses guys!
As suggested in the thread I checked my coolant level and it was low (I should know better than use the overflow bottles as a gauge). I didn't have to add too much...perhaps 1/2 gallon but that was all that it took to drop to 170

many thanks

I'm not sure if this should be posted on here or not but I thought it would attract more attention here. I have a pair (16"x15" RH & LH) of props for a mid-90's 330 with 5.7L's in it. I'd let 'em go cheap because they're of no use to me. They were on the boat when I bought it and I had a spare, balanced set that was off the prior boat that I put on.

PM me and I'll make you and offer you can't refuse.

Just about ready to head home fro our 14 day run up the erie canal to onieda lake from watkins glen ( seneca lake ) , my problem is that ever since day 3 of the trip where there was a lot of sea weed, my starboard eng is over heating at idle speed. I cleaned the strainer which haf a small amount. So idle speed ( around 5 mph ) it quikly climbs close to 200°. As soon as I increase to at least 6 mph or more it will go back to normal op temp which is around 170°. Any thoughts about what would.cause the abnormal spike in temp ?

At first guess it sounds like an impeller to me. Could something have made it past the strainers and damaged the impeller?

The thru-hull strainer may be partially blocked with seaweed. At higher RPMs it could be pulling more water past the blockage to cool the motors. The only way to find out is to go swimming.

View attachment 31075Well, after a great 12 months of ownership tomorrow I part ways with my 330DA Knot Racing. She did a great job, as a test bed, to see if my then non-boating wife would be into spending weekends on the water. Turns out she, my wife, is hooked and Saturday we'll be picking up Knot Racing II a VERY nicely equipped '04 380DA. I'm looking at a 6 hour run up the Chesapeake as a shake down cruise so that should give me plenty of time to learn all the new systems. Happy boating!! :smt038

Does anyone know the size of the wiper blades on a '97 330 DA? Also, can I use automotive blades?

Thanks,

Mike

I'm actually reinstalling mine today. I went with Marinco I believe. I can give you the size & Part # later. I don't know if you can just use automotive blades. I had to replace my arms too so I just went with the whole setup.
