Thank you. Can never really make up my mind as spring and fall are cooler but summer is hot !

i took crappy notes last year - how many gallons of antifreeze are you guys running through a 3126 to winterize? I suck it up through the sea strainer. I seem to recall 7 gallons or so per engine?
ZERO...
CG-4 is obsolete. Current spec is CK-4I know not a CAT question but most of us have the same Gen. What are you guys running for oil in the 7.6btd? Last year I did Rotella T4 15W-40
the manual states:
Use an engine oil regular or synthetic with an API classifica- tion of CF and/or CG-4. An oil viscosity rating of 15W-40 is recommended for all operating conditions.
i don’t see that spec called out on the T4 data sheet but I’m thinking maybe it was superseded by a later spec?

Yes, that works but I use a multi viscosity oil to handle temperature changes better...Same as mains... Rotella T1 30W

I saw that Westerbeke changed the viscosity recommendations on their 7.6 and 8.0 KW generators. They didn't bother to let owners of older generators know that unless you dug it up on their website.
I had several gallons of 15W40 in Tennessee so I hauled it to the beach for the generator. I changed the oil in March and noticed immediately that the 8 BTD clatter was louder. If you've ever been around a 450Da with a Westerbeke generator you know the more noise is not acceptable. I pumped out the 15W40 and went back to SAE 30, the original Westerbeke viscosity recommendation and the noise level returned to a liveable level.
I am in Panama City FL so starting ease in cold temperatures isn't a factor.
Mine is enclosed in a sound shield so I have never really paid too much attention...interesting. We’re you able to find any Westerbeke explanation of the change from 30W to 15W-30? We haven’t found the noise to be a huge bother in our 410 but I wouldn’t argue with a any noise reduction
I could never get mine out. View attachment 112768
