Is it on a trailer?

Is it going to a marina?

I am having my 320DA transported from St. Louis to Charlotte leaving 09/28/09. They should be in Charlotte to unload by 09/30. Possibly this carrier would be interested in picking up in Atlanta and dropping off in Chattanooga.

He was recomended by the Regal delaer in St. Louis and also hauls for Gibson House Boats.

Erwin Marine is the Sea Ray dealer in Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville and Huntsville. They move boats between stored all the time with their own trucks/trailers. My guess is that they would love to have a day's work for one of their guys about now.......Chattanooga is 423-698-1982.

I am not a customer of theirs, so I can't help you with a contact.

Jim,
Where & When are you putting it in at Chattanooga? Are you doing the TN River? Have you talked with MM in Atlanta. Not sure if they are doing a Fall TN cruise this year or not. Also check with Jay (Everything Ires) I know he has used a local guy to move his boat around the area before.
Hope it helps.

I am trying to find cheapest transport to move my 2001 Sea Ray260 to Chattanooga from ATL. About a 2hr drive. Does anyone have any contacts I can call for a quote?

Go to www.uship.com and put in your request. Shippers bid for your business. So whether you have it on a trailer or need a shipper to provide the trailer, you can have shippers bid to get your business. You will probably get the best price through this website.

I used to ship by 290 from Virginia to Florida. It went extremely well. The best part about the website is that you are under no obligation to accept anyone's bid. You can check out there feedback and ask them questions.

Check it out!!!!

Jim, just out of curiosity, have you considered borrowing a friend's trailer and towing it? A 260 doesn't require special permits (or at least they didn't use to), and a big SUV would haul it pretty easily. I don't know that I would want to be hauling it from Woodstock to Nashville, up and down Monteagle Mountain, but the shot to Chattanooga is certainly doable if costs are a concern.

Off subject.....Rick, which lake do you plan to call home in the Charlotte region? We are on Lake Wylie.....lots of good Sea Ray guys around here.

Good luck with the move.

Jim,

If it's on a trailer (or you can beg, borrow, or steal one) and have some flexibility on timing, I'll be glad to tow your boat for you at no cost (one CSR member to another). I have a F250 Superduty XLT 4X4 (longbed) pickup - not sure which differential is in it but should be good for somthing in the 10,000lb range. Do you want to put it in Chickamauga or the river downtown?

Windjammer,

Thanks very much for the offer. I don't have a trailer. I am selling the boat and the new owner (Ihope) was just asking for a quote. Not sure yet if this is a sale.

As mentioned above, just contact a marina where it will end up and ask them how much to go and get it. Keep it simple. For another option, follow the advice above about uship. You don't need to give the buyer anything concrete - just an idea.
