I just got an email from a friend. The broker came to pickup my 270 Amberjack today.
This really is bittersweet. I bought her new, and it was the only boat either of my kids have known. We had some fantastic times on her over nearly 13 years, whether just hanging on the hook or taking trips around Long Island Sound. She's been the perfect boat for us for a long time.
The photo below is her leaving my dock for the last time.
When I saw this picture my heart hurt a bit, but I know we've out grown her for what we want to do now. My consolation is that another family will love her.
Unfortunately I'm no longer going to be a Sea Ray owner. I would have loved to move up to a larger model but it just didn't offer what I wanted. After a very long process of finding one, I'm taking delivery of a new Back Cove 34 next week. It's a boat I've kind of obsessed over for a number of years. While I'm no longer a Sea Ray owner, I still have great fondness for the brand.
