If I remove the uper sunbrella and add support under the cover do I need to shrinkwrap my boat? I am in Maryland so snow is somewhat common.

In short YES!!! Try to protect your investment the best you can...

Lots of threads on this exact topic. Try a search but in short, YES! Just like Jason said.

I would wrap it for peace of mind.

If you plan to keep your boat for a while it might be worth to invest in custom winter cover. It usually pays off in 2-3 seasons. The negative side is that you'll have to install the frame and the cover, at least that's what most people do who have them.

Go to lowes or home depot and buy a silver 10 mi tarp I would get a 40' for yours. Go to pcv pipe 8 ft section I use 2" pipe and some T's joint .If you are at a boat yard you should see some people doing this the cost is about $300 total and if you take care of the tarp it would last you 3 years.
