Some remember hurricane Sandy...
Having been let down by some fiberglass professionals due to their busy schedules, I elected to do it myself.
Saving $thousands$ in the process.
Not rocket science and is stronger than original.

Anyone needing to do some glass work...read everything about West Systems and go for it!

I know, I know...the rest of the boat needs a bath!

Nicely done! I have some repairs to do on mine (patch holes from old davit systems) but I am concerned about how to match the diamond pattern on top. I am tempted to have a professional do this but would hate to pay good money only to find the need to cover it with Plasdeck after completion. I like the clean look of the original diamond pattern but...

There is a company called MasEpoxy that makes non skid patterns for most major boat manufacturers. You put down a couple of layers of gel as the base, the you put down another layer of gell and press the sheet of pattern over the gell and let it kick off. When you pull off the pattern you have the diamond. I have done smaller work on holes and just filled the hole with gell and then came back with small files to recreate the diamond pattern. It not hard to do just ake your time.

Hope this helps,
Gary

Thanks Gary, I just got off of their website and found that their #103 pattern is what I have. I may just play with this myself and see how it goes...

They will ship you free samples so you can mess(!) with it. I've used their pattern sheets on a Whaler I re-did last winter and that stuff is harder to position than you might think once you get gelcoat on, so some practice is helpful.

Another approach is to use a small hacksaw and saw the rough pattern in the repair then follow the say with Wet R Dry sandpaper around a sharp edge. The fiberglass guy at our dealer (wh ohas 30 years experience with glass repairs) uses both methods, but for small holes out in a diamond pattern he will use the saw/sandpaper method.

Good luck with your repair projects............

Lucky, I only had to match a sandy nonskid pattern.
