Anyone ever have a funny not so pleasant smell come from A/C vents? Want to clean the inlet filter (metal mesh) is there any other filters in the A/C system? Will inspect ventilation tubing for mold/mildew this week!

Thanks,
Dan
Dan,
I remember we had the funky smell from the AC when we first got the boat. In the 3 stateroom model, the screen is under the stairs from the galley to the cockpit. If I remember correctly, it is a common part used in kitchen appliances (maybe for a hood).

I swapped the filter out and cleaned the strainer and the sump box and it was gone. I think the Admiral also has some sort of an air freshener near the inlet screen, hidden under the stairs.

I did one time, and found a whole duct soaked in water (radar arch drain was plugged and had run down into the area below the electrical panel) had to replace the duct.

A new 450 EB was listed for sale in Homestead Florida. Here is the link: https://www.poseidonglobalyachts.co...450-express-bridge-homestead-florida-8388616/

I was going to add it to the registry/list on the first page here, but the HIN is incorrect and the name of the boat is not anywhere to be found. I sent the broker a request for the proper HIN. Lets see if I can get it.
From the listing:
"Basic Boat Info
Make: Sea Ray
Model: 450 Express Bridge
Year: 2000
Condition: Used
Category: Power
Construction: Fiberglass
Boat Hull ID: SER3882kio2o
Has Hull ID: Yes"

EDIT: The broker responded with the proper HIN: SERP4684K900

I have 3 units, one intake under the salon steps at entry door. I keep the filter changed and one quick spray of Febreze air freshener will freshen the air up when we arrive after several weeks away. Haven't experienced anything foul, maybe just stale.

Makes 3 EB's for sale, far as I know, same list price of $229k, Miami (Homestead), MD,and DE appearing in Yachtworld. Haven't searched other sites, just pleased at the price. Homestead boat has salon carpet covered I see. Also in the listing, I don't see a dinghy but swim platform is said hydraulic plus has hydraulic dinghy lift. Not sure why have both unless inaccurately depicted.

Head sump box.

So, found a drip about every 5 seconds out of my head sump box. There is some odd plastic block on the bottom (that I can't see need to drag out the bore scope) and it seems like there is a screw through the bottom (why Sea Ray, WHY!) that has lost seal.

So, has anyone bought a new one if these or are they one off Unicorn parts. Checked FP Marine and couldn't find one?

A/C air intake filter is not I have. When I bought the boat I found a standard 12x12 cardboard bordered fiberglass mesh type air filter and a whole box of spares. Didn't even occur to me it may not be a correct filter part. But, I don't see anything wrong with what I'm using ... I don't think.

Here is a picture from earlier in the thread when I cleaned the sump box. I don't remember a "plastic block" but there is a step down to the lower level of the box, aft in this picture:

My filter was definitely not cardboard. It is aluminum like what is used in a range hood in a kitchen.

The block is actually on the outside where your float switch and bilge hose are secured. Assuming it is some sort of additional material to provide thickness.

I'll get the scope out tomorrow and take an image. My box isn't nearly as nice as yours, but looks like it has a PN on the side in marker.

Yeah, caught that analogy to range hood filter. Cheapo filters I've been using do seem to catch a lot of dust and dog hair (short-handed medium size mutt). The fiberglass mesh and cardboard border is is like a typical apartment furnace air filter.

Man, I do not recognize that aft tank at all! ("Head sump box"). Grey water tank, yes. Next aft tank I have is potable water. Then, beyond ER bulkhead are two black water waste tanks.

It is in the hatch in front of the midship head. The grey water sump box is barely visible in this picture. I believe you told us you have a watermaker in the empty location shown in my picture? Aft of the grey water sump box is a large open area and then the hot water heater is mounted just in front of a bulkhead. The hot water heater is accessed from under the midship bed.

Just an FYI: we have a rectangular storage bin that goes in the open space under this hatch. Not that I like to air my dirty laundry, but the bin is is the de facto laundry basket. :)

I just didn't recognize that white tank in the picture. Still don't know what it is. No watermaker but a central vacuum canister in hatched hold in front of fridge. Aft of there, nothing but a giant void space. Water heater mounted stbd of hold, yes, under mid-sr bed next to mid-sr A/C unit. My grey water tank is just aft below the hatch in front of guest head, same as your pic. Really tough access. Also in that space are two batteries for bow thruster limiting access to the grey water tank even more. Onboard tomorrow, could snap some below deck pics next few days.

I have 2 A/C Units, salon and main stateroom. Salon unit seems to be the culprit. Drip tray has drain line out the forward side, with aft side open and no drain line. It fills bilge. Vacuumed out bilge and drain pan. I have the metal filter on both A/C Units. Easy wash and dry. Sprayed with lysol and did freshen the air on salon. Salon A/C only blows into aft port corner of salon behind removable panel???? Seems like to small discharge path for the A/C.

For the salon A/C there should be a plug on the drip tray so it can only flow out the drain connected to the sump box.

My original sump box had a strange habit of over filling. The pump would be running, but I had to depress the float switch to stop the pump and then it would pump the water. I just replaced the sump box. Then, found Sea Ray never put a check valve in and the line from sump box to the main drain so water would slowly fill the sump box, added a check valve up at the main drain and that problem was fixed.

There is a third A/C outlet in the salon above the fridge. Hard to see without a step stool (at least for me).

Jack,
I knew you had mentioned you had something in that space. I thought it was a watermaker but it is your bow thruster batteries. Everything else sounds like standard 450.

I removed the central vacuum on our boat and replaced it with a hand held Dyson. The Admiral’s idea. She likes it better than the big clunky hose and it frees up some storage in the center hatch near the galley sink.

You should have 3 A/C units. Salon, master stateroom and a guest stateroom. There should be three controllers and three switches on the main panel.
