It's nice to know they caught the guy and it wasn't union related. I think that would piss me off more than anything.

One story said he was going into a restaurant and the guy stopped his car and confronted him.

The other story said he was p*ssing on his truck and the gf & him were walking by and didn't like it.

The only stories I have heard locally are that the crew was walking into a restaurant after 16 hours working and the guy pulled up and sucker punched him. Where did you here a pee pee tale?

I figured there was more to it. I think this whole story is a joke. The guy's got his dick out in the parking lot pi$$ing. When called on it he shoots his mouth of and the other guy kicks his a$$. Now that sound like something real. The media jumps on it and makes it sound like the guy "came up to help" and was attacked for no reason. In the interview the so called victim didn't volunteer the fact that he was out in the parking lot with his pecker hanging out...he just played the victim. Kudo's to the guy that kicked his ass.

But, the new version of a man and his woman walking by a mouthy idiot urinating in the parking lot, who then gets his ass kicked, sounds a whole lot more plausible than the original. I mean really...a guy driving by in his car stops, jumps out, sucker punches our hero lineman and drives off. I can't believe I was the only one that questioned the story.

I agree. In hindsight this story is much more plausable. I guess I found it easy to believe the other story due to my frustrations of being without power for 11 days but, I never had any animosity for the guys trying to get us up & running. Shame on the linesman for laying there, tossing out that bogus story and playing the victim. If he was headed inside to eat, why didn't he just wait to pee inside??? I still don't believe he deserved a broken jaw (I guess it depends on what he said!) but he was obviously complicit in his ultimate beat down. I am happy that it wasn't a random pugilistic eruption though! That really made us all look bad. I wonder how much sympathy the guy is going to get now that the truth is out. I still can't believe the guy laying there, in a whisper, talking about how he's" not gonna stop helping people". Does that mean he's not going to stop pi$$ing in public???

Suspect's girlfriend: FL utility worker started fight
(11/14/12) EAST MEADOW- The girlfriend of a Levittown man accused of attacking a Florida utility worker says her boyfriend did not start the fight.
Thomas Libretto, of Levittown, was arrested yesterday after police say Libretto punched utility worker John Applewhite on Friday, breaking his jaw and nose. They tell News 12 Long Island that Libretto walked out of an East Meadow restaurant and saw Applewhite urinating near his BMW, prompting him to confront the utility worker.
Authorities say Libretto attacked after Applewhite kicked gravel at the BMW.
But Libretto's girlfriend says Applewhite started the fight when Libretto got out of his car to check for damage to his car.
Police maintain that Libretto was the primary physical aggressor. They say Applewhite didn't tell them the whole story, but will not be charged.


At this time I am changing my vote. I have heard enough for me to believe that the true A-hole here is the receiver of the punch. Just the mere fact that he neglected to divulge that he was draining the vein on near or on this dudes BMW wreaks of guilt. And again, to let the national media make him out to be a martyr of some sort all the while dragging down New Yorkers is despicable. I think that loser got what he deserved and I must now disavow my previous comments!! In addition, I would like for the Nassau County DA to send this jerk-off a citation for public urination with a big fat fine!!!
 
If this new story is true, which unfortunately probably is. Shame on him for laying there singing the poor me, hero, victim song. Although he probably didn't deserve quite that harsh of a beating he should have come clean with his story in the first place.
 
What do you expect the girlfriend to say? Plus they had time to work on their story between event, press and getting caught.

Truth: The BMW guy is a jets fan and was pissed off from the loss to Miami on Sunday. When he found out the lineman was from Florida he kicked his a$$!
