The "virus" What are your thoughts

What town are you in?
Main Street in Farmingdale is a ghost town.
Lots of people took advantage of the beautiful weather Friday and were walking around in the fresh air. That was good to see.
Boatyard was buzzing too that day.
Everyone was giving others plenty of safe space too.
Hoping we get another decent day or two this week.
The rainy and gloomy weekend sucked! Today and tomorrow don’t look much better.
West hempstead , Friday was beautiful hit the local dog park, More people than I expected to be there

Have you guy's seen the articles of yesterday? Tampa and New Orleans had churches with 500+ people attending in each of them...….WTH??? I think it's time to get to the BUG-OUT Searay boys......:D

Not sure what these crazy people are thinking. I saw one dude get interviewed yesterday. Someone told him that church was considered non-essential. He replied that the church is the most essential place one earth!

An arrest warrant has been issued for a Tampa pastor that held 2 church services last Sunday 1 service had over 500 people. It's people like this that will spread this disease like wild fire.

I'd be interested under what law he will be arrested. Hopefully he will get a top grade lawyer.

Here are the charges for those that don't like links.

Sheriff Chad Chronister and State Attorney Andrew Warren on Monday announced that an arrest warrant had been issued for Pastor Rodney Howard-Browne. He faces charges of unlawful assembly and violation of public health emergency order.

I love this line: "We brought in 13 machines that basically kill every virus in the place," Howard-Browne said. "If they sneeze it shoots it down like at 100 miles per hour and it will neutralize it in a split second."

Me thinks you have another Jim Baker there.

@CaptRonn - He certainly has rights, as does the Government. If he wants to cite the Constitution as his defense, he will lose.....

I'm not so sure of that. The constitution doesn't have a provision that government may suspend rights at will, nor may the government suspend the constitution at will. So yes, he has rights, and he has the right to seek counsel and defend himself.

Personally I will always side with the constitution.

Yep, I read it.

We are not under martial law, and the United States has not suspended the Constitution. He does have rights, and I hope he has a good lawyer that will fight for those rights.
Not a surprising comment from you Ronn, are you suggesting that the preacher should be let off the hook??? Please tell me differently

Perhaps this will help you in regards to the Constitutional issue....All I'm saying is, if his defense is based on the Constitution, he will lose.

It can still be argued in a court of law. The CDC is using their interpretation, and that interpretation can, and should, be challenged. We should never allow government agencies to determine law outside the framework of the constitution. That's why we have checks and balances, and in this the check shall be the judicial branch.

Are you suggesting that the accused not be able to have the courts decide? Again, last I checked, the constitution was still in effect.

While I do not agree with the preacher on moral grounds many people of faith may think otherwise. I would hold this to the mirror of the constitution and the first amendment and it's specific language:

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The rights to assembly and stand in the face of the order to petition their grievance of the imposed quarantine do seem to fall within constitutional rights. I personally feel a government seeking to take control of it's people without warrant could enact the home imprisonment of its people too easily through a quarantine order and this amendment provides the firewall to such actions.

Now, free speech has it's limits and should their assembly infringe upon the safety of others then we might have a mitigating factor for the suspension of these rights (yes, like the old example yelling fire in a movie theater).

Even the clause "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" is in question.

Slippery slope indeed. Thanks for your take on this.
